What started out for Chris Koon as performing in church musicals would soon lead to a promising career as an up-and-coming entertainer.
When most kids were playing in their backyard with Ninja Turtles or Barbies, the six-year-old Koon was getting ready to perform in the Christmas musical at his church.
"That was really the first thing I remember. I loved being up there, and I swear I knew at six years old that performing is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life," he says.
Koon continued to perform in the musicals at his church and his community theater every year, getting cast in a lead role by the young age of 10. From the second he stepped foot on that very church stage, he always dreamed of being an entertainer.
He's living that dream now. Koon is now an actor, dancer/choreographer, and model. He says balancing all those tasks all at once is "awesome".
Already having worked with the likes of Jim Davis (creator of "Garfield"), Koon has also made appearances on two seasons of the hit teen drama One Tree Hill, co-starred in a national award-winning anti-smoking and healthy living ad campaign, modeled in a fashion event with male style line American Crew, and appeared in a handful of music videos. On top of all that, he also found work as a freelance choreographer, winning numerous accolades and awards throughout the midwest. Chris also has danced as a solo act at fairs, community functions, and many different sporting events.
"So many people are worried about being so serious, and I just want to go out there, perform and do something that I can be proud of. I'm not afraid to have fun with the stuff I'm doing. Not everything has to be the Shawshank Redemption. I feel like a lot of people my age feel like they have to do work like that to be critically acclaimed, but you can be talented and do projects that are more lighthearted and fun too. That's what I'm all about," Koon says.
Most recently, Chris has had the opportunity to perform onstage with Walt Disney Records recording artists, TSquad. Also, following his recent well-received performance at the 3rd Annual AT&T 28th Street Metrocruise event, Chris has taken has show to stages also featuring Chris Fedun (of Jump 5), Push Play, Joey Page, Phil Bensen, Zoe Myers, and many others. He has also been seen onstage with multi-platinum, Hollywood Records recording artists the Jonas Brothers.
With a talent, passion, and drive that is like no other, Chris Koon is bound to be one of this year's biggest upcoming talents.
"I just want to be able to do what I love and hopefully inspire others to do the same. It's because of all of the amazing people supporting me that my dreams are finally starting to come true, and I can't say thanks enough."
