Let's see... well, I’ve been engaged to a wonderful guy - Rob - for almost eight years and we hope to be married sometime within the next eight! (haha) We currently live with my mom and brother (for various reasons), but hope to get our own place sometime this year. Of course we say that every year - but we mean it this time! Really! :p
Rob and I don’t have any children, but we have four terrific pets that I consider my "babies" - 2 guinea pigs (Ziggy & Buddy) and two cats (Scooter & Taylor). I have a huge love for animals. I just haven’t been able to go the vegetarian route yet, though I’ve tried.
Here's an important fact: I am a Christian. As of right now, I don't belong to a specific church - but hope to in the future. Although I may occasionally express my personal views on certain topics, I respect the fact that we all have our own beliefs and will not shove mine down your throat. I'm not a religious fanatic and I usually don't concern myself with issues many Christians consider wrong or immoral. Not to say that I don't share some of the same feelings. It's just, in my opinion, we are ALL God's children and it's His right to judge, not ours.
As far as hobbies, I enjoy - among other things: writing, reading, movies, traveling and collecting just about anything having to do with "The Wizard of Oz" (my favorite movie). I'm an eclectic music lover, but my favorite genre is country. I really enjoy singing and would love to do it for a living. Yeah... I know the odds are very much against me - but hey, a girl can dream! :)
Also, I am addicted to Starbucks… sort of! I only go there about four or five times a month but, believe me, I notice if I miss my weekly visit! My beverage of choice? Venti Mocha Frappuccino!
I don't have much of a social life, but I do enjoy attending my TOPS meeting each Tuesday night. It's more than just a weigh-loss support group to me. I've met so many wonderful people and have made some really great friends. Although I can be chatty online, I'm rather shy in person (until I get to know you, that is) and TOPS has really helped me come out of my shell - I'm even co-leader of my group!
That is one thing you may find me writing about... my battle with obesity. I've spent most of my life struggling with my weight, and I suppose I always will. I did lose over 100 pounds back in 2006 but, unfortunately, gained it all back the following year, when I was forced to quit the weight-loss program I was in (it was just too expensive). However, I am NOT giving up! I did it once and I'll do it again! I have way too much to look forward to in life, so I refuse to let my weight defeat me.
Finally, as you can see from my page, I am a big fan and supporter of Carrie Underwood - and have been since she first auditioned for "American Idol." I really admire Carrie, not only for her phenomenal talent but how she is as a person. For example, even though she won Idol, she still went back to college and graduated (magna cum laude) with a bachelors degree in mass communications. Smart girl! Not to mention Carrie hasn't let all the amazing success she's had go to her head; she is very grounded. Plus, the love and respect she has for animals is just wonderful. The world could really use more people (especially celebrities) like Carrie Underwood.
Well, that's pretty much it! Except for what I write in my blog, there's really nothing more to share.
Thanks for taking a peek at my page! :)
