About Me

Joel Baird a.k.a Gremstar has been into music from his early childhood days. He was introduced to the xylophone by his mother Carol Baird when he was around 8 years old. He fell in love with the xylophone and quickly mastered it. He then graduated from that and stepped to the keyboard. By using the same xylophone theory and applied it to the keyboards which would soon become the center of his life. As a youngster gremsta was always spending time with his keyboard and soon joined the musician team in his local church. He spent several years playing for the church band and later formed a gospel group (The Tabernacle Singers) with his brother and some other youths from the church. Grem started doing back up vocals in the band but his brother later realised that he had the voice and style to take it to the forefront and started writing songs for him so he could perform on concerts. Grem was bringing a new flavour into the music and captured the attention of alot of youths and adults as well. Years passed and the group seperated but GremStar kept on doing his music thing. He learned to write his own songs and started recording shortly after. He did his firs professional recording at Chosen Sounds Studio in Antigua with producer Sheldon 'Goodup' Riley. The song was called "What Again?" and although it was just a demo recording it was released on local radio stations. The song was so hott that it got Grem into a competition hosted by Vybz Fm a local radio station. It was a freestyle competition and Grem came out undefeated and got his name recognised regionally for that. Using his already mastered keyboard skills and now his mastered lyrical abilities he had no choice but to head into producing music. Making beats at home on a small computer, little by little his name was spreading across the music world. After a couple years into producing he hit the airwaves with a dance hall beat called "Ghetto Youths' Riddim which features a music video by Shatta Blues. Since that Grem has been one of the more recognised producers/artistes in the eastern caribbean. Recent accomplishments include Gman's "Water" song which now has a hott video that airs regularly on tempo and retv and also local tv stations. Gremstar is definitely one of the people that know music and wat it should sound like. Now owner of his own studio and record label Da Line Productions, there is no doubt that the sky is the limit for this talented individual. Stay tuned and look out for more music from Gremstar and Da Line Productions. Bless:)
