About Me

Decoy are a 4 piece rock and roll guitar band from the glitzy and glamorous west coast of Scotland made up by; Chris Gough (vox&guitar), Iain Paton (bass), Euan Robertson (guitar) and Ross Finlayson(drums).

Chris and Euan met one dismal October day back in a distant memory and immediately connected over how pretty their guitars were. After breaking the superficial barrier they realised they shared a similar passion for great guitar music. With a few others joining in they played their first gig together a month later. Early songs left some room for improvement and the band took on many transformations. The key change was the introduction on Iain on bass. Bringing a fresh energy and diverse musical tastes and skills, things were on track.

With a Spinal Tapesque revolving door of drummers the roulette wheel has eventually landed on Ross Finlayson, hitting the proverbial jackpot. Stepping in last minute for a gig in March 09 he learned a set in a week and injected a huge dose of energy and adrenalin into the band.

Gigging throughout the central belt in 2008 exploring their new set, Decoy grew ever more confident in their songs and the passion that lies within them.

Their first venture into the recording studio in October 2008 produced the ‘Better Day EP’ with violin provided by Cat Calton. Decoy launched their first EP at Glasgow’s Barrowlands2 in January 2009 to a great response.
