THE NOVA PROJECT

About Me

“ The Nova Project

is a true ‘return to the future' -

the revival of the 16th-century heavy-metal,

but there is no doubt that we are in the 21st-Century -

this is the best of all possible worlds!”

Koid9 Magazine (Paris, France)

The Nova Project ®, is a “Classical Prog” ensemble, founded by Anthony Glise and Jason Riley with one simple goal: to combine different musical and historical styles into traditional classical music presented in a progressive rock format.
Each recording (and many concerts) include internationally-recognized guest artists with various musical backgrounds including classical, rock, jazz and ethnic influences.
The full Nova Project ® ensemble consists of Anthony, electric guitarist, Jason Riley, James Kew, 6-string electric ‘cello and Nick Baker, percussion.

“...tunes that sound like the California Guitar Trio

after a few shots of tequila.”

“These guys definitely have an original thing going here!”

Progression Magazine (US)

(alongside reviews of Frank Zappa, Dream Theater, Spock's Beard, Judas Priest, Blackmore's Night and Rick Wakeman)

Guest artists who have performed or recorded with The Nova Project ® include:
Jan Akkerman, legendary Dutch guitarist. Former lead guitarist for rock group, Focus, writer of Hocus Pocus, Sylvia, etc.
Kevin Gallagher, classical / electric guitarist and first prize winner of the GFA International Guitar Competition, International Tárrega Competition (Spain), etc.
Ken Sugita, (violinist with the French National Orchestra-Lille and youngest concertmaster in the history of the Boston Philharmonic).
Edwige DelleValle (‘cellist of the French National Orchestra).
Although The Nova Project normally performs with electric instruments, they also offer an "unplugged" version of their concerts, performed on acoustic instruments and hand percussion. These concerts can be more suitable for more intimate venues.
