The debut in the present form takes you on a journey...a conceptual premise, though the tale is left to the listener's engaged state of mind.
The raw guitars of No Other Way Out and sinister 'Tick' that intros Take The Good And The Bad open the album brilliantly with their dark undertones and rhythmic voice over samples.
Get The Picture brings rapper Kool Moe Dee back into the picture with this up-tempo acid remake of his classic before Release The Animal revisits the earlier theme with angry overdriven synths and robotically empathetic vocals. Reel Time Selective is a nod to the D&B influence but preserves the distinctive attitude that prevails throughout the album's first half.
The baggy beats and blues vocals in Richman, I Love You make it stand out as obvious single material. Conversely, the dubby Arabian Static, psychedelic Hold On To Your Neighbour Man and the mellow then twisted Sequenced Data are soundtrack masterpieces, underpinning the album's concept feel. Duning Out is the calm after the storm, leaving the subject completely chilled and well on the way to wherever the mind can drift…
