Formerly known as Big Moody and the Fender Benders, Moody Burke & the Atomics are a red hot blues band with over 70 combined years of blues experience. Playing everything from Delta and Chicago Blues to West Coast Jump Blues. They have shared the stage with other notable artists such as Reba Russell, A.C. Reed, Rufus Thomas, The Spinners, Anson Funderburgh & the Rockets, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows, Snooky Pryor and Frank Frost. They have also played on King Biscuit Time hosted by Sonny Payne in Helena, Arkansas on radio station KFFA. From scorching blues or sweet slow blues, nobody can sit still when these guys are playing, these guys are the real deal! They have often drawn comparisons to Buddy Guy & Junior Wells.Led by J.D. 'Big Moody' Burke on guitar and Lee 'Lenny Boy Blue' Weglarz on harmonica these living blues legends will take you over 8,000 geographical miles in blues music. On bass is the man who has played with everyone from A.C. Reed to Rufus Thomas, Larry 'Woody' Wood, and on drums Alan Gibson. Burke is the grandson of the late, great banjo picker Virgil Anderson. He honed his skills under blues legend Buster B.W. Morrison and has played with Neal Pattman and the Holmes Brothers. Weglarz travelled the road so he could study under Snooky Pryor, Frank Frost, William Clarke and Rod Piazza. Most of his time was spent with Pryor & Frost learning the traditional juke joint upsetting sound they were famous for. These guys will surely satisfy the hunger of any blues starved soul.
