Simon and Dave gave their first Piano Singalongs at The Golden Heart, London E1. These nights were infrequent but always entertaining and often riotous. A songbook was compiled of personal and requested favourites.
After a couple of years they were asked to supply the musical entertainment for 'do's' at The Pride Of Spitalfields, E1. Here celebrating coppers could be heard belting out the likes of 'Delilah' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody' alongside old standards such as 'My Way' and 'Underneath The Arches'. They also had a special fondness for 'Whispering Grass'!
In September 2007 they received an invitation to play at The Blind Beggar, E1, which has become a regular weekly Wednesday night happening. The repertoire has expanded to accomodate requests for songs by The Smiths, Joy Division and The Human League, amongst many others.
Simon and Dave are not 'performers', they do whatever they can to get people in the pub to sing, sometimes mumbling a few verses themselves, in the hope that someone will say 'I can do better than that' and grab the mike.
Dave plays the piano, Simon is the host with the songbooks, the suggestion sheet and the microphone ready to thrust in the hand of anyone suspected of owning a voice capable of covering up the wrong notes on the piano.
