He says he's a rapper but at first glance you don't see the garden variety MC. In fact this bespectacled gentleman resembles nothing close to it. No oversized white tee, no super sagging pants. His rimless glasses and stoic look leaving you scratching your head like did I miss something. Suddenly you catch a glimpse of one of his 8 tattoos, then rapper becomes a possibility. He mentions something about philosophy and you are back to square one....studying the contradictions.
A self professed revolutionary, Dre K Guevara commandeers the attention of all those who are fortunate to cross his path. In a room full of people, with his soft spoken demeanor he could easily go unnoticed. Often dressed in a button up, some slacks, a bow tie and hard bottoms he looks more the part of a college professor than a rapper. BUT THEN HE SPEAKS!, and the fiery rhetoric that bellows out his mouth parallels the stark words of the fellow comrades that walked before him, George Jackson, Stokely Carmichael and H. Rap Brown....there you go again asking is he a rapper?
In August 2005 America got the chance to hear the answer to that question. With the release of the critically acclaimed EP “Black Chronicle,†Dre K Guevara put the revolution back in rap. In the wake of countless police shootings in the Saint Louis area, Dre K released Payback, a song directed toward local law enforcement. He ends the song as profound as it begins..."you took oath but you abuse it, so as along as there is harassment I will continue to make this music." With statements such as those, this not only caught the attention of local law enforcement but some local political activist as well which lead to several radio appearances on panel discussions and political protest rallies. This minor success soon caught the attention of independent record label Thoro Muzik, and from that a perfect union was born. With independent status Dre K was allowed to flex his revolutionary rhetoric without the restraints of music industry bureaucratic.
So in the fall of 2006 Dre K again took to the studio to express his disdain for the political machine in Washington. So in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina debacle Dre K barks at President George W. Bush "Letter to the President", "your points were dropping, so you had to get it popping, Katrina was God sent you couldn't blame it on Bin Laden, 3 days came and went before you would restore order, if it was Texas or Florida you would've personally drained water."
Possessing the knowledge of a scholar, the bravado of a gangster and the good looks of a leading man, Dre K Guevara is poising himself to be the heir to NWA’s title World’s Most Dangerous group. In an age when the industry frowns upon the great political groups such as NWA, Public Enemy, Paris, Dead Prez, Immortal Technique and Nas, Dre K is commanding the respect of the public as well as his peers.Looking to show the world what he has to offer, Dre K has fans counting down to the offical release of the first single Calling All Cars. Those who have caught a glimspe of the song are eager to hear the schedule relase in April 2009 of his new CD “Soapboxâ€, in conjuection with Konnective Soul Entertainment Group. Dre K Guevara is ready to set the world on its ear with no subject of limits. “They tell me that they tired of the nonsense, but when I speak the truth they wanna censor the contents,†So in the words of one of America’s foremost young poets, “The revolution won’t be televised but it will be broadcast.†Dre K. Guevara
