Serge Frasunkiewicz

About Me

Serge studied classical piano for ten years until the age of 14, when he began to study jazz. At this time, he was admitted into the University of Brasília Big Band. In 1997, he was one of the founders of the Affinity Jazz Trio in Brasília, which has been playing ever since. In 1998, Serge toured throughout Brazil, working as an accompanist for Kirov Dancers. Also as a piano accompanist, he worked with other major ballet companies in the world: Grupo Corpo, Hubbard Street Dance of Chicago, the Guaíra Theatre Ballet and others. In the year 2000 and 2002, Serge went to New York and participated in master classes given by legendary pianists, such as Barry Harris and Fred Hersch. In 2003, Serge became part of the Churchill Jazz Band and performed with important musicians, like Jeff Andrews, Alexandre Carvalho, Kiko Freitas, Derico Sciotti and many others. In 2004, Serge graduated from the University of Brasília. In 2006, Serge travelled twice to Europe and played in important jazz venues. This year, Serge began to experiment on the organ and was one of the creators of the new 'SB-3' group, together with Bruno Medina and Rafael F. dos Santos.
