Hola amigos! Welcome to the Los FANATICOS del MUERTO page, the OFFICIAL fan-based profile for El Muerto: The Aztec Zombie! Created by Javier Hernandez in the early '90s, El Muerto made his debut appearance in a xeroxed black-and-white zine entitled "Daze of the Dead: The Numero Uno Edition" at the Alternate Press Expo in San Jose, California. The story followed the origin of 21-year-old Diego de la Muerte, who while on his way to a Dia de los Muertos festival is abducted and sacrificed by the Aztec gods of death and destiny, and returns to the land of the living with supernatural powers. Since then, the comic has grown in popularity, and the character has been adapted to other media- including a live-action film starring Wilmer Valderrama. This page is designed and maintained (with approval from Javier Hernandez himself!) for fans to connect and provide the latest news, photos, and any other 'Muerto-related media.
