About Me
"I will bless the Lord at all times, His praises shall continually be in my mouth"Praise the Lord everybody!!! I am a member of the Trinity Mount Carmel Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri, where I serve as Assistant Minister of Music. Minister Charles Roach serves as PastorAngelKeys Music Ministries, (aka Angela Davenport-Williams), has been blessed to serve within music ministry for 33 years. Encouraged by my mother, Loretta Davenport, and grandmother, the late Cornelia Campbell, I started piano lessons at the age of 7 with the late Mary Hayden, Ellen Kinchen, and Dolores Day. Organ lessons followed at age 12 from Dorothy Schenkel.I was first introduced to gospel music at the Pleasant Green M.B. Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Early influences were the late Martha Bass Peaston, ("I Am So Grateful"...my play auntie ), and the late Mary Hayden and the late Pauline Brooks.. At the age of 14 I became organist for Central Baptist Church, Wentzville, Missouri under the pastorship of Pastor John W. Haynes. The late Beatrice Brown-Haynes schooled me in "catching on" to the choir. Pastor Donald Hunter greatly influenced my spiritual awakening while preaching revival at Central Baptist. Pastor Hunter also being an accomplished organist, also taught me the proper technique of "backing up the preacher" and was a great influence on my musical development. Later I witnessed the musical skill of Geraldine Gallager, Quincy Fielding Sr. and Jr., the late Lee Cochran, the late Jack Barall, the late Jack McGill, the late James Jones, Ronald Metcalf, Dello Thedford, David Foote, Mark Johnson, and Dr. Leo Davis. My teen years entailed faithfully listening to the radio broadcasts of Pastor Clay Evans, and the late Charles Nicks. Mattie Moss Clark and the Clark Sisters musical style played a great part in my development. Nobody plays like Twinkie!!!!!While God has given me numerous songs, those recorded are: "Thou Shalt Be Saved", "Going Home", and "Twinkling Of An Eye". 2004 allowed me to present music for the GMWA, 2006 and 2007 with the National Convention of Choirs and Choruses and 2007 National Baptist Congress. I'm a former member of the GMWA, and current member of the National Convention of Choirs and Choruses/ St. Louis Gospel Choral Union. The Lord has also blessed with the opportunity to direct for Pastor Donnie McClurkin. The Lord has allowed me to serve as music workshop clinician in the St. Louis, St. Louis County, and Raleigh/Durham North Carolina areas."Let All the People Praise Him", a St. Louis city/county wide music workshop, was founded in 2002 and culminated in a concert which was attended by over 1000 worshippers representing 5 different states.
