Steve Wynn and the Losers

About Me

Apparently veteran Detroit punk rocker and drunk Steve Wynn started the "Livid Losers" in San Jose ,California in the mid-90's before moving back to Ann Arbor and starting "the Losers" with Big Rob Koeff (of Barbed Wire Playpen) and Joni Reuter (of Goat's Downfall and Vomica, etc.)and Billy Davis (Damien, roadie for the Bats,etc.).They added Dave Terry(son of Al who was the second singer of the Bats[Ann Arbor]) on rhythm guitar and wrote a few sing along classics. Gabe Heiss(of Etch-A-Sketch,Nadsat Nation,Pist'N'Broke, and later the Elevations) was so impressed seeing them at an Ann Arbor basement show after returning from his pilgrimage to England and Scotland in '98 that he joined as soon as Billy D. went on the lamb. Not being satisfied with just playing sax and having a new fuzz pedal ,he played most of the lead parts(not wanting to learn all the chords) and solos (he left the hard ones for Dave) and creatively contributed a lot to the recording of Liquor's Quicker. After Steve drunkenly threatened to move back to Cali when he couldn't get his way about something ,Gabe called his bluff and said,"Okay, let's go!". We thought the band would follow, but it was soon clear that Rob and Dave had no such plans.Rob and Joni formed Connie Lingus and Dixon Cider (they put the CUNT back in Cuntry! ) and another band called Roofie and the Date Rapers with Dave on drums,Rob on bass,Joni on vocals,Laura from Vomica on lead guitar, and Robin on rhythm. .Joni met Steve and Gabe in San Jose about 6 months later, but they hadn't found any new members OR a label(we tried T.K.O.) and just managed to stay drunk the whole time.We did find another guitar player, but he died tragically of a drug overdose.Joni and Steve had another falling out.Gabe gave up and moved back to MI after a year leaving Joni and Steve who haven't spoke to each other since. Steve moved back 2 or 3 times before staying in the Bay Area for the last 5 years.Joni's still out there somewhere.Rob joined the Bitter Pills before Preston and Kier broke it up to reform the State, then he inherited his dad's house in Ann Arbor.Dave is in Chicago going to recording school and building his own studio.Gabe?Fuck Gabe! The Livid Losers by Chris Arzaga-It was funny to hear about this after all these years. Here's the story: Steve Brundle and I shot a lot of drugs and drank many beers. We wrote songs and would fist fight any that came in the way of our next beer. The Guardian Angels were our favorite ones. We figured that Steve Wynn was the best idea for a front man. Everyone else was too full of shit or too into themselves to lead the type of FUCK YOU band that we wanted. Backed by Rich Mendez and Jeff Evans we recorded 4 songs. Later covered by "State Faire Apocolypse" and "the Filthy Drunx".. The Livid Losers never left "Betty's Love Child"'s studio space, located at the "ROCK GARDENS". I have a demo cassette of our 4 songs, but Wynn was too drunk and slow to put down the vox. The day we recorded I was pissed off and called Rich a fag and closelined Wynn. Hardcore bands never work out. If given the chance I'd play those good ol' songs again. Keep this page going. There may be a reunion of sorts to come!
