Doble Jugada

About Me

Two upcoming, charismatic singers from Colombia and Cuba join song-writing and singing forces on this hot salsa release produced and arranged by pianist Marc Bischoff. The band's name, loosely translated as "two for the price of one", refers not only to the two lead vocalists Nando Vanin and Fabian "Huracán" Nodarse, but also to the exciting blend of a modern salsa arrangements from both of their native countries. The music on Jugando a Enamorar (translated as: "Playfully makes you fall in love") is influenced by hot Cuban Salsa and romantic lyrics combined with the fresh, highly danceable sound of Colombia. Featuring 10 original tracks, Jugando a Enamorar will be released in March 2008 by Walboomers Music.Nando Vanin and Fabian "Huracán" Nodarse, met each other in the highly multicultural environment of The Netherlands. They worked together for several years in internationally renowned projects, performing and recording all over world. The idea of making a record together was instantly embraced by producer/arranger and pianist Marc Bischoff, who recently had worked successfully with them on the critically acclaimed album "¡Gracias, Joe Cuba!" by Nils Fischer, and who had also produced the debut solo album of Fabian Nodarse, "Renacer".The album opens with the electrifying track "Doble Jugada" which features both singers and identifies this project's intention: Doble Jugada, para mi gente latino-americana, doble momento, desde Cali hasta la Habana!(“Doble Jugada, for all latin-americans, "two for the price of one", all the way from Cali to Havana.”) Throughout the album the two singers take turns singing their own compositions, making this release an exciting and diverse experience. The elaborate arrangements by Marc Bischoff offer a great deal of musical development, often starting with a more romantic beginning and evolving into an explosive and highly danceable finale. This recording additionally features some of Europe's finest latin/salsa recording artists including such respected names as José "Pepe" Espinoza, Gerardo Rosales, Armando Vidal, Joe Rivera and Nils Fischer. Vanin and Nodarse describe "Doble Jugada" as "bringing together two highly respected Latin-American musical cultures with the same language and one root. They embrace each other and become one, musically, aesthetically and artistically."

Influences: Review by Latin Lady Dj Margarita for WWW.VINILEMANIA.NETBy way of Cuba and Colombia, the dynamic voices of Fabian Nordarse and Nando Vanin, team up a long way from home in the Netherlands, to create Doble Jugada and to deliver their newly released and debut salsa album, Jugando A Enamorar, produced by pianist Marc Bischoff.A sweet little package of totally danceable selections. If you're into simply listening, you be equally as pleased. The tempo picks up on several tracks which I enjoyed even moreso, such as on La Mujer Ideal and my favorite, Esta Rumba. This may not be the 'in your face, hard-hitting, fast-paced' "Salsa Dura", however, it is definitely "Salsa Buena" with an added touch of timba flavoring. Great for any Salsa enthusiast, as well as the novice Salsa dancer just learning the basics of Salsa, and looking for that perfectly paced salsa album. Salsa Sensual!I'm continually blown away at the caliber of music being produced in the Netherlands. I think you will be as well. A big "Thumbs Up" for Doble Jugada & their debut album Jugando A Enamorar! Looking forward to their future projects. I have no doubts that it only gets better from here!review by Pietro Carbognani for WWW.VINILEMANIA.NETMusic made in Holland is always of great quality and “Jugando a Enamora”, distributed by Walboomers, is just another confirmation of this fact. Two voices and two styles, that of the Cuban Fabian "Hurricane" Nodarse and that of the Columbian Nando Vanin. Together for the purpose of this release, produced and arranged by the great German pianist Marc Bischoff (who should also be noted for his great arrangements on the last CD offering by Nils Fischer-Gracias Joe Cuba) which both offer a truly excellent collaboration.10 original and pleasing Salsa tracks, with a light vein of romanticism, this is indicated in both the listening and the dancing qualities of these pieces. Superiorly played and interpreted by a group of truly virtuoso musicians (also to be noted is the participation of a friend in the form of Nils Fischer on percussion). All of this really does make this a disc not-to-be-missed and we would highly recommend this as a must buy.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED recensione di Pietro Carbognani per WWW.VINILEMANIA.NETLa musica prodotta in Olanda è sempre di ottima qualità e "Jugando a Enamorar", distribuito dalla Walboomers, ne è l'ennesima conferma. Se funden musicalmente, estéticamente, y artísticamente.review by Peter Watrous - courtesy www.descarga.comTwo terrific singers, Fabian Nodarse from Cuba and Nando Vanin from Columbia, based in the Netherlands, and produced by the pianist Marc Bischoff (part of Our Latin Groove), have put out a rocking little salsa album. Totally amiable, modern salsa, ready for dance floors around the world. On tunes like "Te Lo Dire Todito" the singers and the band really get going, verging into timba territory. Good deal. Highly Recommended.
