About Me

I am the webmistress for the website Dead Ohio . Dead Ohio contains my research, explorations, and photographs of Northeast Ohio's haunted places, urban legends, abandoned cemeteries and other local oddities. Since 2002, I have covered such places as Helltown, Gore Orphanage, the Melonheads, the Kingsbury Run Torso Murders, Franklin Castle, and Mansfield Reformatory. In real life, I am an attorney *gasp* married to Bob Ignizio , editor of the 'zine Utter Trash , aka "Bobnoxious," lead singer of the horror rock band Horror of 59 .One day we hope to be that couple who owns the creepy house at the end of the block that all the neighborhood kids are scared to grab their stray baseballs from.Despite my fascination for ghosties, I remain a skeptic. After exploring dozens of haunted places and taking hundreds of photographs, I have yet to experience a true paranormal encounter. Yet, there are definitely some pretty creepy places out here in Ohio. So, I continue my quest in search of ghosts and all things morbid... NEWS

8/4/06: The Record Courier has published an article on Dead Ohio and my research on Streetsboro Cemetery. You can read the online edition by clicking here .10/27/05: About a dozen new reader submissions have been added to the Stories and Submissions , including Egypt Road, Seven Barns, Edwin Shaw Hospital, Abbeyville, Kirtland Witch's grave, Hiram College, Ridgelawn Cemetery, the Ashtabula Train Disaster, and several entries on Mansfield Reformatory (including pictures and a poem!). Also, new local and national paranormal links have been added to the Links page .In the shameless self-promotion department, yours truly was interviewed by Action 19 News for its special Crybaby Bridge feature that will air on Halloween night at 11:00 p.m. on channels 43 and 19. The show should be a real hoot, so be sure to tune in.9/24/05: New updates to the website, including a feature on the Kirtland witch's grave, tons of new reader submissions (including creepy photographs), and a new link to a local ghost huntin' website. Check out the Updates page for all of the goodies.9/6/05: I am finally published. Be the first on your block to pick up a copy of Encyclopedia of Haunted Places, a sturdy, big trade paperback volume of...you guessed it....the world's most haunted places. In this MUST HAVE book, you will find my articles and photographs on such Ohio classics as Franklin Castle, Mansfield Reformatory, and Johnson's Island. I think I have, like, 6 entries on the most infamous Great Lakes haunts.*A note of apology to all the Crybaby Bridges and Melon Heads afficionados out there: I tried, dammit, I tried to push them through, but the editor wasn't biting*For more information, check out the Updates page on the Dead Ohio website...
