About Me
I was born in the city of São Gabriel, state of
Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil, on August 2,
1968. Started playing bass in 1988 as a member of
Legendary guitarist Gaúcho Zezé's band, along with
Mano Gomes on drums and Conrad Pecoits, keyboards.
After that I worked with singer/songwriter Nei Lisboa
and also with Orchestra Popular de Porto Alegre,
organized by conductor Paul Dorffman. Did regular subs
for master bassist Boca Freire at Jazz Room Tom Jobim
(best school
I've ever had) and following that, several years with
pop group Nenhum de Nós, touring extensively and
releasing several studio albums along with live shows
on DVDs.
In all these years as a musician, I had the privilege
of playing with names like: Luis Carlos Borges, Nei
lisboa, Nenhum de Nós, Kiko Freitas, Rafael Vernet,
Renato Borguetti , Marcelo Delacroix, Marisa
Rotemberg, Jader Cardoso, Luciana Costa, Angelo
Primon, Michel Dorfman, Luisinho Santos, Julio "Chumbinho" Herlein,
Solon Fishbone, Paulinho Fagundes, Luciano Maia,
Leandro Rodrigues,Henrique "Kung" Morales, Loni Seiva, Fernando Corona, New,
just to name a few. It would
be very difficult to remember all the names, after so
many years of music festivals (highly abundant) in
the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Currently I'm part of Jazz and Bossa group,
Delicatessen, along with singer Ana kruger, Carlos
Badia on Guitar and Mano Gomes on drums.
I have special admiration for brazilian bass players
such as Master Sizão Machado, for his words of wisdom
and encouragement!
Luisão Maia, Arthur Maia, Arismar do Espirito Santo, Ronaldo
"Gringo" Sagioratto and, of course, the impossible to
forget, Nico Assumpcao! My musical influences cover a broad range of
brazilian styles that include Samba, Bossa, Baião and
all our rhythms of the South,!! I use and recommend the instruments of brazilian
luthier Domingos Fialho who live in New York.
