I play drums and provide backing vocals.
I played for a blues band FLORENCE AND THE BEARS (whilst their drummer went to Morocco). Later joined a community samba band called JAM SAMBA in which I played tamborim drum then ganza (shaker) then chocalho (a metal framework of tamberine rings) and finished my time playing caixa (snare) all around the south west area. I have also been lucky to play tamberin drum with Big Country on a song with some Jam Samba members at a festival on Plymouth Hoe. I then played in a Status Quo tribute act PILEDRIVER for a while (who later scrapped that idea to play mixed rock). During this time I attended djembe workshops and went on a two week drumming holiday in Gambia staying in a commune. I left PILEDRIVER to form and manage a rhythm and blues act BLURRED VISION (also providing backing vocals and occassional main vocals) and produced a cd 'Doin' That Thing' which included blues covers plus four of my self penned songs. Unfortunatley as we really peaked frontman Mainmain Michael John lost the passion and quit. At least we got to support Dr Feelgood a couple of times and Nine Below Zero.
Together with bass player Nick I then played for blues band THE DELTA DUKES only to end up going back to PILEDRIVER again (this time also providing backing vocals)for a couple of years and supported Wishbone Ash in Plymouth at the Hub in Nov 07, before my departure . I was going to take a break but was asked to do a gig in late Dec for Plymouth's blues/rock band BLUE ANGEL and was asked if I was happy to stay. So a fresh start with another band for 2008.
I have currently (July 08) decided to spread my wings and depart from Blue Angel by joining a band called THE PROFFESSIONAL ECCENTRICS who are made up of half Aftershock and half ex Majikfish members, working at present on a mixture of covers and own material. I am working on an acoustic project with both guitarists Tony and Brian of which I will be on vocals and percussion. Since leaving Blue Angel the guitarist and bass player left so together with previous vocalist of Faith Healer/Wayland/Slack Babbath we have formed a rock outfit called FULL METTLE RACKETT and start gigging end of October. Also stand in as drummer for Piledriver as and when required if Ritchie has Angus gigs to honour.I am at present completing a music team leader course at the Plymouth Music Zone which focuses on teaching children drum ryhthms and singing.
A few years back I was chuft to be asked to play djembe for BARK to support Ozric Tentacles at The Cooperage in Plymouth.
I have also had the pleasure of playing shakers/tambourine/cowbell for a set of Nik Turners Kubanno Kickasso in Plymouth and shaker on the track The Right Stuff with Space Ritual in Paignton. (Last year I gave my tambourine and shakers to Nik Turner to try and help out a bit because Space Ritual had their equipment stolen, so please contact their myspace site if you know of anything).
I have recently produced a book of just over fifty poems (dedicated it to Robert Calvert), of which I am hoping to get published in 2009 called 'For What It's Worth'.It covers the deeper and darker side of thoughts and observations.
