MelodyM > originally, the release of Season 1 was set for September, then pushed back to 2009 (after the Holidays, when many fans had planned to purchase it) and now the release date for Region 2 is set for November, but there is no news for a Region 1 release. Why are is are the DVDs being released in Europe first, and when can we expect them in the US?

Worldwide Red Cross Campaign
Want to help continue Moonlight Fans' charitable efforts?
Check out the following campaign!

At Moonlightline en Espanol we are organizing a worldwide campaign to raise awareness of the whole Moonlight fan community and support the renewal of the show on TV, joining the philanthropic activities that American Moonlight fans have been conducting for the same purposes.

We have chosen September 28th, the anniversary of Moonlight's premiere in the USA, as a day when fans from around the world make a monetary donation to the Red Cross in Moonlight's name.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is helping us to organize the collection and to report of the total funds raised. The donations will go to their global fund, for them to decide how to use them according to the needs of different Red Cross programs around the world. We plan to inform the media and the TV networks and cable channels in the USA about what we achieve in the campaign.

Because Moonlight has united the world.

The instructions on how to make donations are available in a variety of languages at the new campaign website .

Moonlight Producers Confirm Cancellation
I've just received word from Gabrielle Stanton and Harry Werksman, bosses of Moonlight, that the series has been canceled. They sent me this message to pass along to you fans:
It's true. We found out about an hour ago that Moonlight has been officially canceled.
We are truly saddened by the news and are sorry that we won't get the chance to live with our wonderful characters and follow them on their adventures for a second season.
We really want to thank all our loyal fans for their undying love and support of the show. We never would have made it this far without them.

"Moonlight": Since returning post-strike, "Moonlight" remains the weakest link in CBS' Friday night lineup. Yet the vampire drama continues to win its time period. A pickup is all but certain.

"Click" Ratings - MOONLIGHT won its time period in households (5.0/09), viewers (7.89m), adults 25-54 (2.8/08) and adults 18-49 (2.1/07) for the second consecutive week.

Moonlight pulled 7.99 million viewers and a 2.1/6 in the 18-49 demo. That was about a million lower than Ghost Whisperer (9.00 million and a 2.3/9) and 1.6 lower than Numb3rs with 9.61 and a 2.2/7. While the 9pm hour always seems to lose from 8pm and then gain it back at 10pm, the size of the gap seems to be shrinking, which from the perspective of a Moonlight fan should be viewed as a good thing.
Sadly, it’s hard to really call much from the night “good news”, but nonetheless, Moonlight was the third most watched show of the entire night and likely won the 18-49 demo in its timeslot. I say “likely” only because I haven’t seen the hourly demo numbers for Dateline (it did a 1.9/6 in the demo from 9p-11p).
While Moonlight and the other CBS shows were more or less in line with their season averages, they were up against very weak competition on FOX and ABC (and NBC was very weak in the 8pm hour, as well). Still, this may just be the way Friday’s are now.
Next week is a similar scenario with FOX running an old movie, ABC running Duel, NBC running Dateline and CW running Smackdown. On the surface, Moonlight looks poised to fare as well next week overall and in the demo as it did this week against the other broadcast network competition.
Given it was 3rd out of 10 shows and how bad the numbers were for everything NOT on CBS, I’d say overall with next week seemingly shaping up similarly that Moonlight’s “bubble” status at least improved a little. Hopefully for its loyal fans that is the case. Either way, I’m sure they were very glad to get a new episode and looking forward to next week..

All-star MOONLIGHT panel set for LA Fango Con
The panel will take place on Sunday at FANGORIA’s gargantuan West Coast Weekend of Horrors, to be held April 25-27 at the Los Angeles Convention Center (1201 South Figueroa). The lead cast of the cult CBS series will attend, including Alex (FEED) O’Loughlin, Sophia (UNDERWORLD) Myles, Shannyn (THE ORDER) Sossamon and Jason Dohring.

Coinciding with his appearance at the Comic Con and Blood Drive, Alex will be on The Early Show which airs @ 7am-9am on CBS. It's expected to be announced that he will be the newest spokesperson for the American Red Cross. Jason and a plethora of other stars will be on hand at The BMW Charity Pro-Am , which will be played May 15-18, 2008. It is the only tournament on the Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a three-day better-ball competition. Amateurs and celebrities compete for individual prizes as well as cash donations, which are awarded to The South Carolina Charities, Inc., charity of their choice. The Golf Channel will be broadcasting the event live, so be sure to check your local listings!

Exclusive: Moonlight Leader Slayed!
More backstage drama at Moonlight — and the timing couldn't be worse. I'm told that Chip Johannessen has been let go as show-runner just as the freshman drama is fighting for a second season. The search is on for a replacement.
This is the second major regime change for the cult fave; over the summer Johannessen replaced David Greenwalt, who vacated his post for health reasons.
The behind-the-scenes upheaval may explain why Moonlight was conspicuously absent from CBS' litany of renewals last week. It's unclear what impact this will have on the four post-strike episodes that the network just commissioned, which are slated to begin airing on April 11. But rest assured, when I know you'll know.

CBS Dramas moving forward include all three editions of the "CSI" franchise, "NCIS," "Without a Trace," "Cold Case," "Numbers," "Criminal Minds," "Ghost Whisperer" and "Moonlight."
Net is hoping to crank out eight segs of its comedies and six or seven segs of each of its dramas. Newcomer "Moonlight" will likely produce fewer segs. Eye insiders are hoping to begin rolling out new episodes of the comedies by mid-March, while the hope is to have dramas begin popping up the first week in April. While CBS isn't expected to finalize decisions until Wednesday at the earliest, a couple of shows are likely to stay out of production for now.

Writer's Strike Update
It seems this week's rumors that the writers' strike is coming to an end may indeed be true. We are hearing from several sources that the WGA and the AMPTP are "very close" to a deal, which could be announced as early as later today.
According to reliable insiders who asked not to be named, the writers and producers were in talks for nine hours yesterday and made a "staggering amount of progress," as all of the major sticking points have been settled.
"We are 99.9 percent of the way there," one source inside the negotiations said. "As of late yesterday, just a few small issues remained."
The stickiest issue of all, compensation for new-media projects, has been agreed upon by both sides, according to sources. Said one: "There is most certainly light at the end of the tunnel, and we are rapidly approaching it."
Stay tuned, and keep those fingers crossed. An announcement could come any minute.
