PRODUCER/TURNTABLIST/GRAPHIC DESIGNERChizel BiographyTerence “Chizel†Davis is a passionate musical producer as well as an avid student of all music in its entirety. Born on September 24, 1970 in Harlem, N.Y. (the black Mecca of artistic creativity), it was automatic that Davis would eventually acquire a passion for expressive art; specifically music. His adoration for music began as an adolescent when he became a sponge for musical knowledge growing up in a single parent home. While Davis melodically completed his household chores while grooving to his mother’s tunes of various recording artists such as: The Ojays, Isley Bros, Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle and Diana Ross, Davis fell in love! He started listening to hip-hop when he was in elementary school in the late 80's (Kurtis Blow, Sugar Hill, Kool Moe Dee) during the genesis of the genre and constantly remained abreast of its progression by tuning in to Mr. Magic Mixes on WBLS and gradually other s like Red Alert, Chuck Chill Out and Marley Marl. Purchasing his first turntables at the age of 17, Davis drove his mother crazy honing his skills on the one’s and two’s emulating his idols like Kid Capri, along with his cousin Casey. Always apart of the hip-hop movement, “Chizel “attended various concerts and participated in neighborhood hip-hop competitions to improve his musical talents all throughout his teenage and early adult years. While being a lifetime fan of rap, Davis has only been producing for the last 3 years after being introduced to fruity loops, a computerized production software unit and has been grinding ever since. When asked to describe his style he simply stated, “An underground gritty sound, with unique melodies and creative temposâ€. He credits Green Lantern, Dr. Dre, Timberland, Rza & Dj Premier as his current producer favorites and in the near future hopes to attract television networks and movie companies with his innovative and fresh production style.
