Pov Vannary was a popular singer and musician from the infamous Khmer Rock era of the 1960s and 1970s. She was educated in the United States and was much influenced by the American pop scene of the period as evident in her covers. Her first claim to fame was taking first place in the annual singing contest singing Ros Sereysothea songs with Sin Sisamouth sitting on the judging panel. Vannary's trademark is her guitar; she was the first female to play a guitar on a Cambodian stage. Her current whereabouts are unknown; thus, Vannary is presumed to be executed under the hands of the Khmer Rouge regime like many other well-known entertainers.
