Music has been in my life since a young age. I've seen a picture of me when I was two years old being held up so I could try and play the piano, I think I just was naturally drawn to this big wooden thing with white bits which made nice sounds. My dad is/was a talented musician, as were his parents and so on, so it 'runs in the family'. I was forced at a young age to take classical piano lessons - I think I started around 6 years old. Little did I know it at the time, but it was the greatest gift my parents could have given me and years down the line I appreciate it more than anything. My first memory of music was playing Mozart and Bach in front of my 'first school' at a young age. I remember the nerves and the buzz I got, and the embarrasment of all these people applauding little old me. I carried on for years going to classical piano lessons and going through the 'grades'. I got to grade 5 in classical piano and had to call it a day, the rigidity of classical music was frustrating me and I had started to experience other types of music. I taught myself bass guitar and drums which led me to getting involved in various failed 'bands'.About this time, and during my music GCSE, I really developed my creative side in music, making up compositions on the keyboard with a strong impact from jazz (which to me, is the ultimate music form). Living in London, it is hard to ignore the music which is born here - namely UK garage and jungle/drum and bass. This is were things change.I started to get into UK underground garage around 98/99 and was so interested I got a pair of decks, not really knowing why or what it would lead to..I soon realised, after going to a 'Best of British' drum and bass rave (Bagleys 2000) that garage was shit, and its life was limited. There was something about the drum and bass sound, scene and atmosphere which I fell in love with. My favourite 'type' of drum and bass is what you might call 'tech Step.' Basically I love anything which has a rolling beat and bassline, a dark and futuristic energy to it. I've always felt music should take you forward on a journey.Im still making music and dj'ing today, long may it continue!
