Sally Gardens/Raglan Road performed by Seelie Court
"It's sort of an Irish, Scottish, English, shanty, folkie, traditional, singin, drinkin, dancin, havin fun kind of thing"
For centuries, stories have been passed from one generation to the next, carried on the lips of bards and the strings of minstrels. Seelie Court endeavors to keep this proud legacy alive with a rich mix of music that spans four centuries. Many of these tunes you recognize - some of them you won't.
By keeping this music alive we pass on the stories and culture of the generations who came before us. Our repertoire includes many Irish, Scottish and English traditional tunes, a few Irish, Scottish and English tunes that are not so traditional, songs from the Renaissance and Middle ages, shanty tunes from the great age of sail, shanty tunes from the not so great age of sail, American folk tunes from the last few centuries, ballads, drinking songs, dancin' tunes and a few originals just to mix it up a bit.
Seelie Court has played at Scottish Games and Festivals, Pubs, Coffee Houses, Renaissance Faires, and even the occasional wedding.
"Listened to it [Raise Up A Glass] last night...great stuff, particularly like the last song, Raise Up A Glass. You have, among other things, a great natural sense of irish melodic structure, so the songs you've written come off as "in the tradition" in a really good way. All the best." - Gregory Grene, The Prodiglas
