Two belt-driven turntables and a second hand mixer was all that Lars Vegas used when he started "mixing" his first hiphop records in the early 90's. In that period it was all hiphop for him but soon he also found that house music had a great attraction to him. Especially the early housemusic from Detroit and Chicago had a strong influence. After four years of exploring all different aspects of house music, the now 19 year old DJ started an interest in the older music styles such as funk and soul. Very quickly James Brown, Al Green, Patrice Rushen and Funkadelic became regulars in his choice of music.
When he turned his hobby into his work in 1999, he was already mixing different styles of music together, a style that from 2004 on was known as 'Eclectic'. Since his first residency in Nightclub Panama he is now a regular guest at events in big and small clubs in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht such as Paradiso, Tivoli, Panama, Jimmy Woo, De Kring, Studio K and Off Corso.
Next to DJ'ing, Lars Vegas hosts several clubnights such as Longplay (house), REHAB (eclectic, soul), Lost (eclectic, soul) and Blockparty (eclectic). In 2007 he started a DJ collective named FewKidsOnTheBlock, a DJ-team with DJs: Aiscream, Joshua Walter and Vanilla Nice. He is the musical consultant of Tommy Hillfiger Europe and has a wide variety of business clients. As one of the regular DJs of Girls Love DJs and SEEN he is known for his energetic and uplifting mix of soul, funk, hiphop, house and rare bootlegs. His remixes are played by DJs like Irwan, Jaziah, Flexican, Estaw and others.
Lars Vegas: "I play and make music to which you MUST dance, your free wil diminishes with every beat".
