Lindsay Sugden & The Storm

About Me

Beautiful Rare things & randomness
...to transport you to wild places where the moonlight fractures through the trees and the waves lap on a gravely shore; ethereal baroque folk-tinged indie; Music to drift into your dreams; Transportation to a parallel universe.

The Storm have been having a good 2009 so far... Celtic Connections, nice reviews, radios . . . :) I am lucky to have some most talented musicians to play with.

NEW EP is OUT NOW!!! Voted best CD in Acoustic Idols 2008!!
Lindsay Sugden & The Storm, eponomous debut... recorded at Windmill Sound... Available to buy from SECRET CDs .

TRACKS:
1. On the Wire
2. Beyond These Walls
3. Blood Runs Red
4. Even if I fell from Above.

It was while Lindsay studied the slow creep of glaciers in Iceland that the seeds of the songs were sown. Carrying these ideas back to Edinburgh, they fell on the fertile soil of the vibrant Edinburgh acoustic scene and began to take root. Augmenting Lindsay’s fragile melodies and intricate guitar parts with the harmonies, cello, djembe and glockenspiel of the Storm, a unique sound emerged . . . with results we hope you like :)

The Storm is building momentum and 2009 will see the band the busiest ever... The band scooped all the awards on offer at Acoustic Idols 2008, and were crowned overall Acoustic Idols of the year, voted for by the audiences of Edinburgh. Beyond their home city, they have been seen at venues such as the Hope & Anchor, London, and in January 2009 they were selected to perform a set at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow during the Celtic Connections Festival..

WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAID
"...This is proper contemporary Scottish folk music: neither gimmicky nor anachronistic, it sounds both familiar and yet otherwordly" The Skinny (Feb 09)

"A four piece band of quite wondrous subtlety, they proved that you can distract a man from his beer. Ms Sugden's vocals washed over your soul like warm water. Soothing and harmonious, this band had a timeless quality that will ensure they gain a place in your long term affections." The Bluesbunny (independent music reviews) Nov. 2008, Glasgow "intimate and reflective... interesting rhythms, contrasting a gentle use of the guitar, and stabbing plucking... filled with hints of Nick Drake, Laura Veirs and Elliott Smith... its gentle and full of emotional depth." Scottish Music Network

"A haunting finesse of a song... the audience was mesmerised by a stunning set" Mr J Pugh, OOTB
"Beautifully crafted songs and light yet mesmerising vocal performances”. The Skinny
"I think Lindsay’s recent Nepal trip has given her some mystical power" James Igoe, Out of the Bedroom
We are looking for a manager, because, frankly, I was not cur out to be a very good self-marketer. Anyone want to help me, please get in touch!!
