Johannes is a Vancouver B.C. based guitarist. He is well versed in Jazz, Blues, Funk, Rock.
His professional Music Experience includes playing with The Grames Brothers ( www.gramesbrothers.com ) as lead guitarist. He also handles management and bookings for the band. Johannes produced and co-wrote both CD releases, “In our Time†and “Strange Beautifulâ€. He toured extensively in Western Canada, Alaska, and Washington with The Grames Brothers. In 2004, Johannes was a guitarist with Bobbie Taylor of “Bobbie Taylor and the Vancouversâ€, well known for his work with Motown Records, including the Jackson 5. From 1996-1999 he played with "The Johannes Grames Quartet" which featured some of Vancouver's finest musicians, such as Chris Terry and Brad Turner from Juno award winning band Metalwood, and Randall Stoll, drummer for KD Lang and Tom Cochrane, respectively. From 1995 -1998, Johannes played for the Nancy Weisler Band as lead guitarist and played on her CD “Live By Letting Goâ€. And from 1993-1995, Johannes played to "The Russell Jackson Band" as lead guitarist. Russell Jackson was a member of the B.B. King band for 7 years.
Johannes has toured extensively through Canada, and the U.S.A. in clubs and festivals such as Portland International Blues and Jazz Festival, Sacramento Blues and Jazz Festival, Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Commodore Ballroom.
At present he is a co-owner and teacher at Moody Music in Port Moody, BC. He is also a freelance guitarist and has played with Franky Lee, Kenny Neal, Mark White (The Spin Doctors), Sonny Rhodes, Jazz Baby, Cameron Chu, Ray Carroll and the Platters, Lee Aaron , Shermon Robertson, Crash, People Playing Music, The Vaquaros, Farrell Spence and The Widowmakers , and Brickhouse to name a few.
He has covered much ground during his career as a music theory and guitar teacher working at Not Just Another Music Shop, Guitar Workshop Plus, Hornby Island Blues Workshop, as well as privately with 18 years experience.
