I want to show the other side of Hip Hop that the mainstream doesn't know and see." - says T-Nova, a die hard hip hop fan since the late 90's.That's the over-mature T-Nova coming out and expressing his feelings on the current state of Hip Hop. T-Nova is known for speaking on things that at his age, most kids don’t even know about. Some consider him very mature for his age, as his knowledge of the world and cultures has helped him grow and become a more well-rounded person and MC on the mic.At 12 years old, a 6th grader sitting in his English class bored with nothing to do because he completed the work with no problem, he was looking for something to occupy his time. He started fooling around by reciting the words to the song “Victory 2004†by The Notorious B.I.G. and P. Diddy. A few minutes later, he started improvising and making up his own lines within the flow that is apparent on the track. He was very impressed with his new found hobby, also known as in the world called “rapping.†He had no earlier knowledge of how to rap, he just taught himself as he went.He was not good at all his first year and he admits it. “When I go back once in a while and read my notebooks to see how much I’ve come along, I’m amazed at how terrible those rhymes were. It’s hard to believe that I’ve improved this much in just a short 3 years,†says T-Nova in an interview prior to the writing of this biography.After a year of experimenting, he met fellow rapper from Boston, Mass. Toney Starkz of HoodFellaz Ent. Toney taught him the basic processes for writing rhymes such as how long is a standard verse and counting lines as bars. Following this conversation that would change him forever, T-Nova would write furiously all the time. He really started to see an improvement, and it became easier for him to express what he had on his mind and apply it to words on paper.“I feel like words are one of the most powerful and dangerous weapons a man can ever possess and recording them to music makes the message all the more powerful,†said T-Nova.T-Nova really started to get the feeling of writing his thoughts on paper, but recording those words into sound waves that were enjoyable to listen to was another problem.“I remember my first mixtape, ‘Welcome II Maynard’, I had some decent lyrics and okay beats, but my flow and delivery was horrendous,†laughs a confident T-Nova about his beginner’s woes when first recording.“It just takes time and practice to improve flow, delivery, voice, etcetera on the mic. So it took me a good year for me to develop an identity in my music, but now its stress relieving to be able to record something you put your heart and soul into and get a nice reaction from people who have listened,†says T-Nova speaking on recording songs now.T-Nova, also adds that his father has had a major contribution in helping him improve musically and technologically. His father has always kept him updated on the newest and freshest equipment in the industry and has helped teach him how to operate the equipment and programs. T-Nova includes that if his father had not been there helping him improve his quality and production skills, he would have never seen the same progression that he has seen evident in front of his very eyes over the past 4 years since he has started.To this day October 14, 2007, T-Nova has released three mixtapes ‘Welcome II Maynard’ (Winter ’05) Inside My Mind’ (Spring ’06) and ‘B-Boy Muzik Vol. 1’ (Fall ’06). T-Nova is now working on releasing his much anticipated and highly talked about mixtape “School’s In Session (Hip Hop Representative: 2007-2008.) After that T-Nova is planning on releasing one more CD titled “Not Your Typical Love Letter†which will be somewhat like a small preview album, like an EP, except it will be just a bit longer to get people ready for his first debut album. His album will be titled “Instrumental A capella†and all of the production will be handled exclusively by T-Nova. T-Nova confirms that the album will not be released until everything is flawless and is mastered down to perfection.T-Nova is aiming to release good music that will make people think and learn something new. He speaks the truth in his music and you can expect nothing less.
