Sexy, Talented and Sweet are some of the words used to describe the vibrant songstress/ sing- jay. Alternatively, she is also a humble, determine and promising young lady. Diandre Moss a.k.a Diandre, the eldest of three beautiful young siblings, was born in Kingston on June 14, 1987 but moved to Portmore, St. Catherine with her parents at the age of one, where she resides at the moment. As a child growing up, Diandre affectionately called “Roshell”, discovered her zeal for music as she was around it all the time and influenced by it alot. Diandre and music are inseparable- she sleeps music and breathes music. Her love for music, she exclaimed, developed tremendously as her father and uncle are music lovers. Additionally, she expressed that “I am always around music as my father has his collection that he plays all the time, ever since I’ve been growing up, I’ve always been exposed to various genres of music and so my passion for it evolved”.Diandre is convinced that she was ordained to be in the entertainment fraternity as she is always fascinated by the art and more so, she finds much comfort in music- where she belongs. Diandre says that singing cheers her up when she is sad and gives her hope when she is discouraged. Although not well-known in the business, she have met a number of established artistes in the business namely, Beres Hammond, Beenie man, Natural Black, Lady Junie a.k.a Junie Platinum-just to name a few.Whilst attending primary school, and while being one of about four children growing up in the household at the time, she formed a singing group called the Busta Kids Krew with members including her sister, her two cousins and herself. From there, friends and family recognized her love for music and her talent, as she was an active member of the music club and drumming group at her High School, the Waterford High School in Portmore. There she entered the JCDC music festival for a number of years, where the group yielded a number of medals and trophies for outstanding performances in music. Despite her shyness, performing was not a trouble and still hasn’t been a problem for the songstress as she had performed for different mass of audiences – such events include the annual Mello-go- round and Ewarton Jerk Festival- just to name a few.In 2002, she was introduced to aspiring producer/ engineer Richard Dawkins at Brukkout Productions in Portmore by a close friend and music companion I’ Maragh. Diandre, the young aspiring singer recorded her first demo entitled “I like it”, which later impressed Dawkins, as her soothing voice, seductive lyrics and her sweet melodies charmed many listeners. Her style of music is a combination of the R&B and dancehall genre and her versatility and creativity in song writing and deejaying is well acknowledged, admired and respected by fans and many reputable figures in the music business.Later in 2005, she recorded her first single “Summer Breeze” on the pilgrimage riddim for Nuff- a- Dat Records and Brukkout Records, which received a number of airplays on both local and international radio stations. Diandre has also recorded other songs for various young aspiring producers; one such is “freedom cry” on the Jah-live riddim for the Amco label. Her debut video for summer breeze also received a number of plays on a few cable channels in 2005. Other artistes who also recorded on the riddim included Gyptian, I-Wayne , Lutan fyah and Brahyhan Art. Additionally, she did a few background track for artistes such as Menace, Brahyhan Art and I- Maragh- among others. From that time, the twenty-one year old took a break from the music, because of the importance of focusing on her studies. Presently a student at the University of the West Indies, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Relations. Nevertheless, clashes with music and her studies are at a minimum due to her flexibility in complementing and managing both her music and academics. She performed at the Reggae Day Conference at the University in 2008 and entered the Kyampuss Buss- out talent competition also held in April of the said year where she was well- received.Diandre after being introduced to 3:57 Records in April 2008, recorded a song entitled “true confessions” for producer Mario C of 3:57 Records in Kingston on the Goodaz riddim and also “Don’t Cry” for Lynch on the one-drop riddim, entitled ‘exotic garden for Music Unit-Ed label in late December 2008 set to be released in 2009. She has also recorded songs for well-known disc jockey/ producer Kurt Riley and other singles and promotions are among the plans laid out for 2009 in preparation for the re-launch of Diandre’s music career. As she would say- sky is the limit!!! and so look out for some new projects from the songstress. Keep supporting and show more love!!! Big things are in the making.
