About Me

Proudly call Fremantle home. I was born and bred in the area. Eastern European by background: half Macedonian, other being Croatian. I have had many great childhood memories when I do reflect on them. I grew up around the pool: did competitive swimming with the Melville Swim Club for over a decade. Competed in State Championships numerous times and did well. Water polo, ocean swimming and long-distance running were the other sports I participated in. I also performed in a local drama academy and was even selected for a national youth dance theatre company. Went to John Curtin College of the Arts where I did my secondary studies. During this time I first developed a strong interest in human rights and became active in grass-roots political activism. I led several large contingents from my high school to the ‘Books not Bombs’ rallies that were organised in the Perth CBD when America invaded Iraq, and went on to form a human rights based student group with Suzanne Covich (local poet and 2005 Pride WA Patron) titled, 'JCCA Students for Equality'. In recent years I have been heavily involved with various community-based committees; Pride WA, Gay & Lesbian Equality and P-Flag Perth. This saw me become a finalist in the 2006 WA Youth Awards in the category of ‘Citizenship’. Last year I was the Sexuality Representative on the Guild of Students. These days I am studying at Murdoch University, doing Cultural Studies but am seriously contemplating changing to Journalism or Law. I was a contributor and photographer for OUTinPerth - WA's gay and lesbian newspaper. Although i am now working for GAYinWA.com.au. Also involved with Queers for Reconciliation (Q4R)...
