A bout"When you listen to the music you are moved, transported to another place."

"Cayur's music takes on many shapes as Cory Brown illustrates his empirical
outlooks, through various moods and mediums of sound. Cayurs atmospheric
tones play out through everything from sullen crests of spacerock guitar, warm
synth fuzz, manipulated field recordings, and just about whatever Brown can
get his intuitive ears and hands on. Brown first began playing music in middle
school band with the Tuba, and it wasnt too long after that he began playing
Jazz guitar in his high schools band. After going through several schools of
thought, on what style to write in, Brown found himself listening to more and
more ambient textures and experimental opuses. It was only natural that he
would move to reciprocating the influences that were inspiring him. Brown
adopted the name of a Guatemalan city, and Cayur was forged. Worlds End
Girlfriend and the work Keith Kenniff has done under the name Helios are only
the tip of Browns iceberg of inspiration. Another point of reference would be
avant garde film makers such as Jan Svankmajer. By now, Brown has spent
countless hours that have turned into years writing with midi programs and
perfecting his out of the ordinary style of composing. Cayurs sounds not only
offer an outlet to Browns rural life in Somerville, TX, but they also offer the rest
of us a glimpse into spatial sound washes and droning aural waves that blanket
airy guitar rhythms. At the same time, these compositions are derived with
surrealism and light noises of juxtaposition in mind, hence the random additives
of organic noise that weave about his songs. Cayur is a fresh, green project
that has the promise to grow in all directions, and Cory Brown is making sure
that there are flowery petals blooming along the way."
