If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do...

About Me

My name is Alissa. A lot of people seem to get the wrong idea, so here are a few things you should know:
I'm not really into the party scene anymore. Don't try to send me messages if that's what you're after.
Please don't send me condescending messages, calling me "sweetie", "homegirl", "baby", "shorty", etc., in the hopes of getting up my skirt. It's sleazy, and will only make me cringe.
I do not like rap, hip hop, anything remotely associated with the "ghetto" culture. I have my reasons; respect them and I will respect you.
I will not think you're cool when you brag how much you party/drink/smoke/do whatever random drugs you can.
Also, just about all of the people on my friends list are people I know in real life, and I rarely add people I haven't met; that isn't to say I'm not open to meeting new people, but I don't see the point in having 1534896752 million "friends" on myspace, when I'll likely never have more than one conversation with them. Tl;dr: Don't send me a request just to boost your friend count, you will be denied.
I don't like drugs. I don't do them anymore. I don't want to hear about how high you are, or were, or about how much you love to party and get fucked up; stories like that won't impress me. Go to the dumb bimbos and frat boys if you're looking to brag about how high your tolerance is, or the "funny" shit you did while you were fucked up. Besides, chances are I could top your stories. Drugs destroy lives, and if you're too blind, naive, or arrogant to see that, they will destroy yours as well. Moderation doesn't exist with them; if you believe that you're already fucked.
I'm a grammar freak. I don't waste my time with people who make no effort to better themselves.

My Interests

piercings, tattoos, ancient traditions, foreign and dead languages, arguing, literature/art with deep meaning, anime, opera, theatre, playing the violin, reading, chess (though i'm not very good), scrabble, psychology, mythology, computers, history, theology, philosophy, neil gaiman...

"God's...don't get to opt for therapy or medication, though one can see how such things might do wonders for the Judeo-Christian god."

Omnia mutantur, nihil interit. (Everything changes, but nothing is truly lost.)

"The freaks looked at her in a secret way, trying to connect their eyes with hers, as if to say, We know who you are; we are you."

I'd like to meet:

No one that it would be possible to meet in this life.

"It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out the emperor has no clothes. Yet the half-wit remains the half-wit, and the emperor remains emperor."

"So we reach into the raging chaos, and we pluck some small glittering thing, and we cling to it, and tell ourselves it has meaning, and that the world is good, and we are not evil, and we will all go home in the end."-Lestat from Anne Rice
