BIOGRAPHY:My birth given is Monique K. Smith, born May 25, 1981. I was transformed into ENEMY in 1994. As a St. Louis native I graduated from Normandy Sr. High School, afterwards I attended St. Louis Job Corps earning a certificate in business and clerical work.ENEMY came from my many personalities. When I was a pre-teen and going through a lot of rough stages in my life. ENEMY was my bad side, the side that didn't care. As I have grown, I rap about the EMENY within all of us. ENEMY is universal because we all have our dark sides.Growing up I stayed in a lot of trouble and always in the streets. I had a hot temper and was very stubborn causing a lot of friction between my mother and me. We just couldn..t see eye to eye therefore, I moved around a lot staying with different relatives and friends in the surrounding St. Louis area. What really made me want to focus on my talents was when I first heard Da Brat. Listening to her motivated me, I could relate to her lyrics. It was like someone of my gender was finally speaking on what I was thinking and feeling. I could also relate to her style because like me, she came thugged out and gangsta with it. 2pac has also been a great inspiration to me because of his captivating lyrics, and topics. I consider myself a lyricist and not just an entertainer so even though the music plays a huge part; I want to feel exactly what the artist is saying.Writing, to me, is a tool. It's always been a way for me vent out my anger and different emotions. As a child, I always loved to read which would eventually lead me to writing short stories. As I grew so did my material. I started then writing poems, raps, and even songs. I've been involved in a lot of things throughout my life, some positive some negative, but I never stuck to with one thing. Music has always been in my heart, this is what I love and I'm not going to give up on it.My older brother heard a tape of me and friend rapping and was impressed. He encouraged me to get in touch with his long time friend Lil Whit. It was instant chemistry, he had tight beats, and I had a tight flow for every one of them. I had fun learning and working with FLATLINE RECORDS; it wasn..t like being on a label, it was like a family. Under FLATLINE, I recorded a 21 track debut album which was never released. I have performed at various venues and events throughtout the Mid-West. Showtime and Thug Luv, two singles from the unreleased OFF THE EDGE album, were in rotation at 95.5 the Beat and Q 100.3.These days I am working with various producers in efforts to bring out my first solo album.
My goal is to become a successful artist. I'm now trying to be an inspiration to others who are lost and need someone to relate to just as I did. Lords willing I'll be a household name within five years. Maybe once I'm established a long term goal of mine would be to get into acting. I'm a very modest person, and a true GEMINI; always thinking and just striving to be the best in whatever I do.The STL is a hot spot right now. We’re coming strong with a new style mixed with hip-hop and harmony. Nelly and Chingy are household names and products of St. Louis. While they have kicked down the doors for other STL artist, all eyes seem to be primarily on the male MCs. It’s time for the first lady of the Lou to step through those doors. Her name will be ENEMY. "My style of flowing is real rhythmatic, I love to ride a good beat. Also I’m very versitile, coming with all types of creative, hard, and fun deliveries. The topics I chose to recite in my rhymes are never to far fetched from my own life experiences and the circumstances in which I’m surrounded. I’m coming with joints for the clubs, for the streets, for the men, and the ladies, I try not to limit myself. My style may be Midwest but not highly comparable to Nelly or Chingy. They use more harmony as a primary delivery, whereas I may switch up and hit you with anything. LOOK OUT!
