About Me

Aside from the fact that I’m in my mid thirties and look like I’m twenty (which I currently deem a curse), I’m pretty much just a regular guy. I have a good family and am blessed with the best child a father could ask for. I currently work in the ophthalmic field providing technical support for the best doctors in Colorado.
My primary pastime- aside from being with my daughter- is reading, learning, and contemplating. My particular fields of study include, in no particular order, philosophy and its various branches, theology, history, psychology (especially that containing an existential element), Christian apologetics, politics, and a few others. I love to play chess- as does my daughter- which I think in many very important ways is reflective of life.
In short, I'm probably exactly like you, strangely and amazingly brought into this existence, experiencing its pains and joys, while trying to make sense of it all- which, in itself, is usually a painful and joyful task- but still, always beautiful.

A More Perfect Union
Below is a slideshow of those individuals for whom I have much respect; whom I have read, studied, and contemplated. I added myself in the slides not as an equal, but as one swayed by that very same spirit of passionate inquiry and internal vocation.

John William Waterhouse is a pre-Raphaelite artist. By sheer accident I was drawn to his work while surfing the web. There was a painting of his where a young lady was picking flowers. The 'freeze-frame' of this particular painting has this young lady reaching over a wooden fence to pick a flower. The symbolic beauty of this depiction is nothing less than transcendental (you can view it in the slideshow; I'd like to know your opinion).

We can only have being in a three-dimensional context if that context is embodied within a fourth-dimensional reality. The problem is we cannot behold that reality directly (just as a hypothetical two-dimensional creature couldn’t know the three-dimensional structure within which it was).
Notwithstanding, we may infer its existence. Furthermore, we may add conjecture to our inference to postulate the possibility of dimensions higher than that of the fourth. Neat!
This video below is a fun cognitive exploration into the possibility (and rules for) higher dimensions. Take a look, it’s pretty cool.

I just put this map up to see if it is an item that would work well on this page. What do you think??

Rarely would I allow a video to express principles that I believe to be essential to a healthy perspective of self and life- in fact, I don’t believe I ever have. But then I came across this video sometime in 2006. Its contents speak of the principle of liberty and what the foundation of that liberty resides on, namely, self-ownership. I’ve thought the message of this video through, and although it may not be flawless, it functions very well as a sortal principle. The axiological significance of this short video is tremendous, and inasmuch as the philosophy of politics concerns me, I’d say I’m okay with the content and ideas this video represents.
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate. All those ... moments will be lost in time, like tears...in rain. Time to die."

Providence seems quick to invite us into beauty (one of the coolest aspects of existence). Recently I've been allowed to view some breathtaking artwork by an equally breathtaking contemporary of ours: Gayle Renee. For me, her art seems to compel the mind- no, the soul- to contemplate itself. Viewing her work is almost like viewing an isolated fragment of reality through God's eyes- the articulation of which is impossible on a merely finite level, but entirely tangible in the realm of aesthetics. Below are twelve of my favorite. You can view her other pieces in my Pics area (believe me, awesome stuff).
