I'm just an ordinary guy with a lot to be thankful for--particularly my wife (Erika, who just won the TV10 Golden Apple teaching award), my 20 YO son (Zack), my job, a great boss, and all my great friends (way too numerous to list, but if you're checking this out, you're probably one of them!).
My entire life in a nutshell: I am the Assistant Director of the Indiana State University Anthropology Laboratory, and manage the Contract Archaeology Program. I've been there about all of my adult life. My Masters thesis examined the movement of geological chert types (flint) over the archaeological landscape by two separate Early Archaic cultures, Kirk & Thebes (9000 years ago). I was the primary Project Supervisor (field boss) at the Caesars Archaeological Project near Louisville which lasted 3 years and was the largest project of its kind ever done in the Midwest. We excavated the most intensive Kirk Culture site (12Hr520) in the eastern US. I wrote a manual on the archaeological use of Indiana chert types which is under development for publication by the Indiana Geological Survey.
The New York Yankees are my religion, and I'm a huge fan of the Indianapolis Colts & New York Giants, as well as a Larry Bird fan. I am an avowed Red Sawx hater. I was captain of my high school swim team and qualified for the State Finals in several events, and am in my high school's athletic hall of fame. I used to play centerfield for the Yankees too. OK, that last one was a lie.
I'm a huge Deep Purple/Ritchie Blackmore and Fu Manchu freak. I play rhythm guitar in my band, Faultline.
