"Successful and unsuccessful people do not vary greatly in their abilities. They vary in their desires to reach their potential." --John Maxwell
From day 1, Seano B had music pumping in his veins. From his crazy lyrics to his unstoppable beats, his talents didn't go unnoticed for long. Seano B was born November 12, 1987 at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. At the tender age of 1 year, he went back to his roots; his mother and him traveled back to Iraq where both his mother and father were born, leaving his father behind.
Seano B was once quoted saying:"Everybody thinks they live in the real ghetto, but where I grew up
makes some of the bad parts of the US look like the Hamptons. In Detroit, all you've got to worry about is getting your ass whopped, but in Iraq you had to worry about bombs flying over your head. Truly a war zone"
After spending six painful years in the war zone of Iraq, his mother and he moved once again back to Michigan where they reunited with his father and planned to stay permanently. He began schooling in the United States, and even from as early as elementary school he knew that he had something spectacular going for him. No matter where he was, everyone always was sure of one thing: you were to find him performing. He performed at school and Church plays, and always was the center of attention; the young show man always gave quite a performance. From rapping down the halls of his school, to sweet talking young and older woman, he always charmed people with his smooth lines. As a little troublemaker, he often found himself getting into predicaments that he knew he could get out of using his charm. Although school wasn't his main priority, he still kept it going until his family became in desperate need of income. He dropped out of school after his junior year of high school.
"Working in Detroit was school enough," says Seano B.
With a bad attitude and a short temper, Seano B spent most of his days at work getting into fights and throwing people out. He'd often put his frustrations toward the most powerful things he had: his lyrics. He spent ninety percent of his days sitting in the confinement of his room, as if it was some sort of prison cell for himself. He'd clear his mind and pour his heart out into his raps. Seano B didn't just wake up one day and decide he wanted to be a rapper.
"I'm always asking God why he gave me this curse, why am I the rapper? I just woke up one day and realized that I spent half my life writing lyrics to songs. And fuck what people think...I'm not a rapper. I'm more of a motivational speaker. I dunno man, I give up. My life's not done, maybe writing a biography is a mistake. Wait till I die. Then my biography will be complete. But until then, I'm not gonna stop; I'll see you at the Grammies."
Seano B worked out of his home for a while, doing the best he could with some, but not much, equipment. He worked hard to make sure that everyone would hear his music, but he could only do so much. At 17 he joined forces with Kleer Entertainment, a minor record label that was destined to do big things. He grouped with their producer, and together they made hits. He knew that all of his hard work was going to pay off soon. His family never approved of his career goals, believing that he would never make anything of himself if he kept going the way he was. They saw it as an unrealistic dream of his. Nevertheless, the discouraging comments from family and friends did not pull him down, yet built his career by giving him more to rap about.
In January of 2006, Seano B released his first song since joining Kleer. "Make ya Mine" was an instant hit; first time listeners went crazy for his true life love lyrics and seductive voice. Within less than a year, he had attained a fan base that many indie artists could only dream about. His fame was quickly growing, and people became aware of that. In April of 2006, Seano B caught the eye of a local California radio station. They quickly asked his permission to play his song on their station, and in one day of the first week it was requested over 1800 times, earning him a radio interview with one of the station's DJ. It was only a little break in a big industry, but it was a start.
Soon after he became his own manager and split from Kleer. Gigs became a frequent thing for Seano B, and the stage grew to be a place where he was comfortable most. Whether it was a simple small party, or a big club show, he'd give it all he had in him, and prayed for the best. He made sure that the people who did not know who he was before, were new fans by the end of the night. He continues to work hard on his journey to stardom; striving for the best and never doubting his capabilities.
