About Me

Well let's see now. I was born in McCloud, Ca. If anyone knows where that is then you win the big prize. I went to school in Alturas, Ca. (same prize here). When I was asked what instrument I wanted to play in band while I was in the 4th grade I picked the trumpet and that was all it took to get me hooked on music. My freshman year in high school was in Alturas and then we moved to Oakridge, Ore (once again, you get a prize). I finished high school in Oakridge. ------------------------------------------------------------ -------The next two years I attended Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore. I was a music education major (big surprise right?). The next two years I attended the University of Oregon, yes, I am a duck. I was in all sorts of musical ensembles including the basketball band and the marching band (I have pictures to prove it). ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- During my 5th and final year at the U of O, I was approached by a touring band called Change of Heart. They wanted to know if I was interested in joining them for a tour beginning in Jan. 1985. The month was September so I figured why not. I will just finish out this semester. I was contacted by them a week later and was asked if I wanted to join for a month long tour of Singapore.... needless to say, I accepted. I played bass for that band and sang backup vocals. We then embarked on a 5 month tour of the United States as well as touring Canada in the Summer of 1985. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- Change of Heart sort of fizzled apart for a number of reasons but I still had the bug to perform. It was at this point that I realized I didn't want to be a music teacher anymore. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- In April of 1986, Myself and Bob Barnes (who was in Change of Heart as well) decided to form a band. That band was called Versus. Tom Teutsch joined but we didn't have a lead singer so the guys asked me to be the singer, so I did while playing the bass. Owen Wright then joined (he was in COH too) and all we needed was a drummer. Christian Crowe joined right out of high school. Finally we needed a bass player so I could focus on the singing. Chris Kent joined.... thank the Lord. I never wanted to pick up the bass guitar again after watching Chris play.... simply amazing. We recorded 2 regional records while based in Portland, Or. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- We joined this contest sponsored by the 700 club and won for crying out loud. We got a record deal with Starsong records and recorded a CD. The CD was produced by Tedd T in Minneapolis. We moved to Nashville and stayed together through 1995 and decided to all go separate ways. We had many adventures that I wouldn't trade for a million bucks. I was working for a company called the Musicland Group the entire time I was in Versus and ended up moving back to Portland to pursue that career. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- Soooooo.... I was a District Manager for that company then went to the corporate office as a loss prevention manager. I was still doing some music here and there. Basically I had a keyboard and a boombox and a bass guitar. The company started to go south and I went on an adventure totally out of my safety zone. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- I worked for Bart Hafeman in Scappoose, Ore (another prize if you know). I worked in his studio where I learned how to operate a ProTools digital recording system. I had some amazingly great times working there. I was also part of Bart's band called Hit Machine where we played covers and totally dressed up in outfits. That was awesome because I got to perform again. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- An opportunity came to me to be a District Manager for Payless Shoesource in Oregon and I accepted. It was when I was living in Lake Oswego that I started to build my home studio. I was then asked to be part of a national team at Payless to roll out new business initiatives for 9 months. After that job was over, I was asked to be a District Manager in Oakland, CA. I was there for a year and applied for a regional trainer position..... I got it and I moved to Connecticut. I have continued to add to my studio and now my company is called MiConnMusic. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------- And that brings me to right now where I am typing this to you. The future is bright and full of music.........
