OLD SKOOL RHYME, NEW SKOOL TIME

About Me

Kalmplekz, more known locally as KPZ, is a suburban middle class raised lyricist. Born Marcus Palazzolo, KPZ has been writing and rhyming since Trapper Keepers and Pony kicks were the in-thing. Hailing from Utica, Michigan, he has differentiated himself from other mitten-molded beat makers with melodious instrumentation and harmonic jazz beats, which combine to a powerful mix of emotional hip-hop. Brought up by a single mother with six children, KPZ was influenced by the indeginous sounds from his siblings since the age of a toddler. The love for music only grew as he began to stockpile albums of vinyl, tape, cd, or whatever media form available. More or less studying the art, it began natural for Marcus to develop a style all of his own. With cunning words and clever lyricism, KPZ adapts to the beat and become the music he creates. KPZ met the woman of his life in 1999, of whom he was married to in the fall of 2004. He instills inspiration for many of his thoughts as he writes from the three little daughters he has from this union. In the fall of 2004, KPZ opened The Little House on Hayes Recording Studio, located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Simultaneously, he formed a trademarked recording label known as Last Laugh Records, LLC. He works in the local scene procurring and perfecting his art. Along with his cousin, Tim Herbert (aka Hooligan), the name of the company has quickly made its way into the forefront of local southeastern Michigan rap. KPZ, under the name Kalmplekz, released his first mixdisc effort in November of 2007 entitled "The OutKold Mixtape". Last Laugh Records released a double cd mixdisc effort, by artist Hooligan, two months prior entitled "The Fresh Batch Mixtapes, Volume 1 & 2". In 2008, they worked with and/or performed at shows with the likes of Stretch Money, K-Deezy, Chief, Instrumentally Sick Productions, Smoke Don from Tru Mafia, Dope Da Vinci, Get Bread Entertainment, Volcano (I-ENT), Tone Tone, Mitch-E-Mitch, Ty Jones, Moe Nitty, Prophecy, The Spec-Illest, Raw Cut, The Clique, Caddy Carol, I-94 and 7 Mile Productions, and a host of other respected and noteable industry Michiganders. In the same year, Last Laugh Records(KPZ) also signed artist Jay Hunt, aka Celtic, and quickly released his first mixdisc surrealistically titled "The Dead Leaves Mixtape". Always into production of whatever comes out on a Last Laugh record, Marcus incorporates old skool elements over new mainstream industry beats to create a flare to excite the listeners ear canals. His hope is to get you remember the Last Laugh rendition when you once again hear the track the beat is originally from. Now working with up-and-comer in the game, Vinnie D, Kalmplekz is expanding in anticipation of good things in the music world and an economic surge with the installation of Barack Obama as president of the United States. An optimist, a provider, a worker, a mover, a slanger, a father, a husband, a thinker, a creator, a listener, an idea expressor, a passionate music man with knack to be around for time to come- MIC CHECK ONE-TWO, ONE-TWO! - this is KPZ the Kalmplekz MC of Last Laugh Records.
