About Me

FINALLY, ... I joined the ranks of seemingly the entire universe who has a My Space Page... so here I am...In addition to the live comedy I also have a morning radio show in Lake Tahoe (Howie's Morning Rush and Howie's Sunday Funnies -- you can hear clips from the radio shows on my website at (www.howienave.com). When the comics are in town, we also make a short stop for a TV spot. And, I still love writng a lot, I am lucky enough to get to write movie review for various print publications and guest columns on sci-fi stuff and sometimes a little political commentary too. My first love has always been music which lead me to write parody songs which were first heard on the nationally syndicated “Dr. Demento” radio program. Some of my original compositions include “Your Father Was Once my Mother,” “I was Born the Wrong Religion all Because of Circumcision,” “I Want a Part Time Girl for Christmas,” “It's Hard to be a Jewish Cowboy When You Want to Date a Country Girl,” “Freaks on the Internet” and “Post Academia Blues” which was written after he graduated from Humboldt State University. I am a HUGE Sci-fi fan and was lucky (!!!) to have hosted some Star Trek conventions in addition to the annual Roswell, New Mexico Alien Encounter Extravaganza that takes place every Fourth of July weekend.
I got a another cool break and appeared briefly on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” Comedy Central and over the years have appeared at many comedy festivals both in the United States and abroad. I've become pretty active in his community hosting a series of benefit shows for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, organizing a comedy golf tournament (and comedy performances) for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Relay-for-Life American Cancer and Leukemia/Lymphoma Society and most recently for the Angora Fire survivors in South Lake Tahoe.
I was also featured in the comic cookbook, “From the Stage to the Stove” where comedians share their favorite recipes from all over the country while working the road... I actually make a killer spaghetti sauce that is the envy of other comedians as well as fans of pasta and even has a recipe for vegetarians too. When he gets some time off he likes to be a hermit staying home or camping outdoors with his girlfriend, especially where there is no cell signal !
