BAHR:NEUMANN means emotional and intelligent Electro from Hamburg in Germany. Since 2001 the two boys CHRISTIAN BAHR and DIRK NEUMANN create innovative and catchy songs. Our, at present more than 40, songs are all self composed and produced and within bass and melancholic belly feeling. The repertoire offers uptempo club songs as same as ballads. A groovy sound somewhere between Depeche Mode, Björk, Covenant, David Bowie and Wolfsheim. Great names of course, but BAHR:NEUMANN stays independent. We go our own ways. Our circle of friends and fans in Germany and worldwide has increased since 2001. We are proud of all our supporters. This is our motivation. At the moment and in future. A promise.
------BAHR:NEUMANN steht für intelligente elektronische Musik aus Hamburg in Deutschland. Bereits seit 2001 erschaffen die Hamburger Jungs CHRISTIAN BAHR und DIRK NEUMANN innovative ebenso wie eingängige Songs. Unsere mittlereile über 40 Songs sind selbst komponiert und produziert, mit Bass und melancholischem Bauchgefühl, ebenso clubtauglich wie mit Melodien, die sich einprägen. Ein Sound irgendwo zwischen Depeche Mode, Björk, David Bowie, Covenant und Wolfsheim. Doch BAHR:NEUMANN bleiben in ihrem Werk bewusst eigenständig. Über die Jahre hinweg ist der Kreis unserer musikalischen Freunde und Fans immer weiter angewachsen. Darauf sind wir stolz. Und sehen es als Motivation für unseren weiteren Weg.

The reflecting lyrics are important as well as the music. Normally in English, but sometimes also in German, we prefer a lyrical, metaphorical, pictorial, political, social and sometimes fragmentary language. And our phrases and sentences require a personal interpretation. And that's what we want. That is what we believe in, not only in our music: No light without a shadow, no restart without a foregoing end. On the other hand, a high tide follows an ebb tide and the truth is more than just an extreme standpoint. The all day truth needs no extrusion and isn't satisfied with a thinking just in black and white. This world is not only shrill and coloured in neon. Our request is a honesty that conquers the day and the night too. We want to emblaze all the different colours of grey that fill our life. That's the reason, why our lyrics are no escape, but a dissection of states that get (or got) out of balance. Emotional and mental, inside and outside. The human person is the centre of our considerations. We have standpoints, but we are no preachers. We just talk/sing about our opinions. Subjective, imperfect. But with conviction.
------Die reflektierenden Songtexte sind ebenso wichtig wie die Musik. In englischer und gelegentlich auch deutscher Sprache gehalten, mit inhaltlichem Anspruch, kommen sie lyrisch, manchmal methaphorisch, bildhaft, politisch, nur in Fragmenten daher. Sie sind interpretationsbedürftig, und genau das sollen sie auch sein. Und dahinter steht ein klares Bekenntnis: Wo Licht ist, sind auch Schatten. Kein Neuanfang ohne Ende. Umgekehrt folgt jeder Ebbe aber auch wieder eine Flut nach, und die Wahrheit liegt nicht im Extremen, nicht in der Verdrängung, sie gibt sich nicht zufrieden mit einem Denken alleine in Schwarz und Weiß. Denn diese Welt ist nicht nur schrill und neonfarben. Uns liegt an einer Ehrlichkeit, die den Tag und die Nacht überwindet, Wir beleuchten die vielen Grautöne dazwischen. Genau deshalb sind unsere Texte auch keine Fluchtpunkte, sondern die Analyse von Zuständen, die aus der Balance geraten sind bzw. dies zu drohen tun. Emotional ebenso wie mental. Im Zentrum steht immer das Individuum. Der einzelne Mensch als Ursprung von Allem. Dazu beziehen wir unsere Position, ohne dabei bekehren zu wollen. Subjektiv, nicht abschließend. Aber mit Überzeugung.

Since August 2005 we listed more than 70.000 downloads from our band page and from a few music platforms, where we are showcased. HEAVEN SENT is the title of the new and third album of BAHR:NEUMANN. It is a conceptional album that tells the story of a female angel. But this figure doesn't act as an aloof numen. This angel has doubts about the order, about the learning amplitude of mankind. She moves around in a cold and soulless world, sometimes as a perpetrator, sometimes as a victim and just as an observer. This story is a very personal inventory to find some explanations for subjects you cannot explain. It's just a metaphor and defines our opinion that all our machines, inventions and analytic expertises aren't able to build a shelter for our soul. We all need more small wonders to survive in this clinical and frosted world within everyday's profits and losses. And yes, we believe in angels. Whatever happens, it is not just a coincidence. HEAVEN SENT contains 13 new songs of BAHR:NEUMANN and is escorted by a 30 pages digital artwork booklet, that contains all lyrics (with translations) and a lot of photography artwork. Dieser ist Teil von uns allen. Er ist nicht unfehlbar. Er zweifelt an seinem Auftrag, leidet, liebt, stellt sich die großen und die kleinen Sinnfragen, die uns alle angehen.
