Old Jalopy

Old Jalopy is a hard driving rhythmic vehicle coming out of rural Pennsylvania. Their sound mixes the heavy energy of hard rock with the melodic integrity of blues and jazz. All three members grew up in New Hope, Pa before individually moving to Boston where Deniz Davis (guitar and vocals) and Che Guevara (drums and backing vocals) studied at Berklee School of Music. After several years of paying dues on the local music scenes in Colorado playing with regional favorites such as Nicole Jamrose (Nashville Star 3rd Place finalist 2006), Deniz returned to Pa and joined Blue Sky Invention, a band that had spent time wood-shedding in Boulder before taking the local Pa scene by storm. When Blue Sky disbanded in late 2007, Davis, along with Blue Sky drummer Guevara, enlisted Boutros Boutros-Ghali to fill out the low end. Boutros and Deniz had collaborated intermittently for nearly two decades in projects ranging from hard rock to jazz standards. In the time Deniz had spent in Colorado, Boutros was serving as secretary general in the UN. At this same time, Guevara was growing in skills and local recognition, sharing the stage with such bands as wEEn. The beginning of 2008 saw them in the studio for the first time together laying tracks on 2” analog reel to reel with the help of engineer prodigy Quinn Waters. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ We have an album featuring artwork by Bodie Chewning.
