Band Members: ARTURO ENRIQUE OCHOA SALAS
Born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Arturo started with music as a small child, first taught by his father Eladio Ochoa and Bertha Soto V. (piano teacher). He moved to the city of Chihuahua and continued his studies at the Arts Institute with Fernando Saenz Colomo; later, working through the Yamaha music program he reaches the 5th grade in organ performance and fundamental theory.
He’s been performing professionally since he was 12 years old in many different cities (as soloist, with bands and accompanying famous singers). Founder of the music academy ‘’Musical Ochoa’’, teaching with the Yamaha program for 33 years. He has composed many waltzes, music for theater, songs for children and made transcripts of music from the Tharahumara Indians from Chihuahua.
Arturo has received numerous awards from different Government and other public institutions for his achievements as a musician and composer, one of the most notable is the PACMYC award for his transcription of the Tharahumaras music.
He has taken the music of Chihuahua through all Mexico and many places in United States performing with the well known local singer and wife of 33 years ACIHUA until she passed away in 2004. He made arrangements of different composers music such as Salvador Almanza, Ventura Romero and Erasmo Palma (tharahumara Indian who received the Sciences and arts award in 2002).
Currently, he is working on a second transcription of the local Indians music and arranging his own material to be released soon. He’s been teaching engineering at the University of Chihuahua for 37 years and teaching organ at an art school for 3 years.
Happily married to Julieta Cuevas Perez and has two daughters: Ara Enidh and Lucia Julieta.
