vacatum is a one-man project wich was formed in 2007 to produce some sad melancholic music. The project was mostly inspired by black and death metal acts like Burzum, Satyricon, Carpathian Forest, Cannibal Corpse, or Gojira, but vacatum also tries to take ideas from post-rock (God is an Astronaut, Sigur Rós, Yndi Halda, Pelican) and triphop bands. The most important was always the sad, depressive atmosphere. The founding member, Mikka tried to create music in lots of (mostly electronic) stlyes before, that's why the first record Empty Roads was still only played on synth. (The guitar parts too.) In the beginning of 2008's summer, Mikka finally bought a real guitar, and now he's learning and practicing to create more heavier, and powerful slow, killer metal music. The first track of this new era is Travelling Backwards, wich has been recorded just two weeks after buying the guitar. New tracks are in progress, and vacatum also plans a split album.
