I made a beat about it. Wanna hear it, here it go. Next up to explode on the scene is gifted beat smith Rich Green. The white-hot producer making up one-third of the production team for 3rd Phasz Entertainment is the center of a buzz spreading across the Southeastern U.S. at light speed. Born in Buffalo, New York, the now 22-year-old hitmaker moved to Alabama at a young age and still currently resides in Huntsville, AL. I am music, this is all I know, says Green. As a boy, watching the Livingston High School Band that he would later become the head drum major for led him to fall in love with music. All of the attention in the room shifts to a disc of industry instrumentals playing in the background. Fellow 3rd Phasz family members Da Feva, Slash, Moe Dizzil and Flame all partake in a sing along of the lyrics to the song of the beat spilling out of the speakers. Rich Green turns his attention to sing along with the gang all of the words to Ice Cubes classic hit Today Was A Good Day. He goes into a nostalgic state about the song that was the first hip-hop tape he ever bought. Get me on the court and Im trouble/last week I fucked around and got a triple double, croons the budding talent. Realizing that he could combine his love of making music with the band and his passion for Hip Hop, Rich developed a knack for making beats. Starting out with a simple inexpensive computer program called Fruity Loops, Green began his journey as a producer. However, he met a stumbling block with the limited sounds that came with the program. After hooking up with female producer/emcee Slash, he picked up enough tricks to diversify his sound and structure his songs. Later he would change to another computer program and begin to use hardware in his production technique. Listing Devin The Dudes Just Trying to Live and Dr. Dres The Chronic as two of his top production albums of all time, Rich Green has many influences. Everyone from Just Blaze, Pete Rock and Premo to Kanye, Alchemist and 9th Wonder can be credited for influencing this sonic sound chef. While preferring all originality over sampling, he does have a pretty hefty assortment of both in his arsenal. Its all about making good music. You can do that with sampling as well as all original. People make bad music with both so it obviously has nothing to do with which is better. Its just about whatever suits your ear. Spoken like a true craftsman. With production in the works for numerous 3rd Phasz projects as well as outside projects, Rich Green has plenty on his plate, also having double duties as an Engineer. Staying hungry is the key to his success. I just want it so bad, he frequently says. Im never satisfied. One listen to his tracks and you wont be either.Your results:
