About Me

TZD is run by Jeremy Backofen. we’re devoted to inspiring and challenging artists to do their job. to do their best work, and to do it for the sake of the work as opposed to the ends. .
i produce, i engineer, i coach, i do whatever i have to.....i create environments that make us want to make musics.....i try to erase all the restrictions that can impede great art. that’s the hard part.
if we’re lucky, we take the musics and fasten them to the airwaves. we capture the essence.... artist magic. from the tip of the tongue and onto a medium that seems to suit. staples.....tape......bolts... 1’s, 0’s, your mom, whatever it takes.
HITS INCLUDE;
FELICE BROTHERS ............ FRANKIE AND HIS FINGERS MICE PARADE .................... FRIGHTENED RABBIT M SHANGHAI STRING BAND THE WALKMEN ...................
i can go just about anywhere and set up a recording environment. the more outragous the better, usually. as long as there is a shell. or not. i love studios but sometimes they’re innoportune.
with the right songs, we can make a great record in a toaster oven.
when i need really controlled environments i get deep at Scooberdome III, Millbrook, Flymax, Clubhouse, Marcatta, or somewhere appropriate.
if you have a question, send me an electronic message. i’m here to help.
now go do your job.
