Success has been no overnight affair for Cockney singer Tina Charles. It has taken years of hard work and determination for her to find her rightful place on the pop scene. Tina’s perfectly controlled, sophisticated voice has led her to international stardom with hits such as â€I Love To Love (But My Baby Loves To Danceâ€,“You Set My Heart On Fireâ€, “Dance Little Lady Danceâ€, “Dr. Loveâ€, “Love Me Like A Loverâ€, “I’ll Go Where The Music Takes Meâ€, “Rendezvousâ€, “Love Rocksâ€, “Love Bug / Sweets For My Sweetâ€.All these discs charted in a dozen countries within just few weeks of release. Born in Bow in London’s East End on March 10, 1954. Tina always wanted to be a singer. The family moved to Chigwell in Essex and young Tina wasted no time in getting her career started. She would spend hours in front of the mirror singing into a “toothbrush†microphone! She was encouraged by her parents who, as soon as she was old enough, ferried her to and from gigs. It was on their advice she went to a Hammersmith stage school. She stayed only a short while and moved on to Maurice Burnham School of singing. There she met Valerie Avon who arranged her first recording contract with CBS. So it was all in 1969 when she made her first recordings “Nothing In The Worldâ€, “In the Middle Of The Dayâ€, “Good To Be Alive†and “Bo-Bo’s Partyâ€. But Tina was not yet destined to be a star. When her CBS contract came to an end she started touring and working with band leader Tony Evans. Gaining invaluable experience, one of her regular spots was at Ruislip Air Base. Eighteen month’s hard graft at the base and she was booked to appear at the Empire, Leicester Square in 1971 and on the Tom Jones Show where she sang “Hey Judeâ€. At the time she signed with MAM and toured with MAM stars Tom Jones, Gilbert O’Sullivan and Engelbert. You may also recall her regular TV appearances on “The Two Ronniesâ€. Still Tina had to wait for her big break and became heavily involved in session work. Her Fans have been after those Budget Hit Records just to find any song Tina recorded on hundreds of LP’s. It was in 1975 when Tina would see her first chart success after meeting Biddu who produced Tina’s first solo record for CBS again “You Set My Heart On Fireâ€. Set My Heart On Fire did well in Europe where it became a massive club dance hit, and even in New York. Her single “I’m On Fire†with 5000 Volts went to number 1 in Germany that same year. Biddu’s next single production earned Tina gold and platinum all over the world going to number 1 in the UK in March of 1976. She released five Albums from 1976-1980 and decided to take a break after, to be with her family, got involved doing sessions, radio jingles and charity work. In 1986 “I Love To Love†was remixed by Sanny X and became a massive top Hit, scoring number 2 in France, followed by “Dance Little Lady†that entered the top 20 in Germany, and her first official video clip for Formel 1. An Album including the Sanny X mixes was released in France and was sold out in no matter of weeks. Tina’s first compact disc by Scorpio Records distributed by CBS. Tina was back again and performing regular live on French TV, they loved her, she was again in all newspapers and magazines.Sanny X released the dance track “Higher†which went to number 5 in the US Club and Dance Billboard Charts in Aug 2006, it features the vocals of Tina Charles.Mar 2007 Tina again is in the studio recording new songs for an album she planned to do for a long time, with real musicians and a production team backing her up.Sep 2007 Tina is finished recording and the album will be released shortly!Tina Charles is back ……..Tina has finished recording a new Album.
