About Me

I'm a mature spiritual and philosophical guy with a pragmatic and sometimes, unorthadox outlook. I live in Newark, the town I was born in.I'm married to a Japanese lady called Sonya and we have a 12y.o. daughter called Sakura. Most of my working life I have been in front-line public service, helping to run and manage leisure centres and swimming pools. I've also been self employed and run my own successful taxi business.Through my work I'm a qualified lifeguard and first aider, off which I have used my training onmany occassions. I'm also a qualified masseur and Reiki practitioner. For the last 20 years I have been practicing the ancient Japanese warrior srt of the Ninja and ave my own Ninjutsu dojo with around 25 students. This is an "all-encompassing" survival system and a way of life, not merely just another martial art. It includes all hand and foot taijutsu (body combat) techniques, a wide range of traditional and modern weapons work and other peripheral subjects like healing, fieldcraft and water training. Before coming into Ninjutsu I spent 27 brilliant years in a local sea scout group and experienced many things in life from power-boating to parascending, canoeing to flying.I like to think that when times are hard or difficult I can still smile and pull through.

My Interests

My primary interest is Ninjutsu, warrior art of the Ninja. I've trainined for 21 years and had my own dojo since Oct 1990. I'm also interested in the outdoors, the environment and activities that go with them. I'm also into massage, Reiki and Shiatsu. If you're local and want a treatment, give me a shout.

I'd like to meet:

Tha Dalai Lama and any interesting people, That's probably most of you.

Music:

I have a wide taste in music. I like the 60's, 70's and early 80's stuff, country, Rock, Soul, Drum music, Celtic, military and some classical and new age.

Movies:

My two fave movies are The Last Samurai and Braveheart. Also like good martial art films(not the cheap chop suey variety)Not really into sci-fi, horror or tacky films. Some of the good old comedy films like the Carry On series still make me chuckle.

Television:

I like most comedy stuff; Only Fools and Horses, Rising Damp, Porrage, Some Mothers do Have Them snd so on. Not into soaps of any kind, although I watch the Bill. Is that a soap now? Documentaries, reports, nature and wildlife. Is there time for more?

Books:

Don't read much. Just fiction, topics of interest.

Heroes:

Robin Hood, Red Indians, Ninja, Baden-Powell, Emergency Services personnel, "have-a-go" on the spur of the moment people against "scum-sucking-pond-life" Aid workers.
