About Me

"When These Songs Sing"Hi My name is Michael Butler & this site is dedicated to my music of the early 90’s & late 80’s, my Hard Rock days, that went virtually unheard due to never having had a record deal. Most tracks you’ll hear are off my 1997 CD “Every Turn” that was comprised of songs written in either the late 80’s up to 1992. Other tracks are from my “Horse Power” demo (1989) of songs written in 1988. By the way, the band in the photo is “2nd Nature” & the same members that comprised of “Horse Power” as well. My Brother Tommy Butler Drums, Joel Napach Bass & Randy Hinderling Guitar. I’m happy & glad for “Myspace” to have an opportunity to showcase this older material somewhere & have the possibility for it to finally be heard. For info on me in the here & now, 10/07, you can go to http://www.myspace.com/michaelbutlernowvoyager ~~~ I am Now a modern folk artist, but at this time/phase I was coming out of my "New Wave" thing in search of a "more guitar focused" sound. The New Wave had seemed to me to become too studio/keyboard dominated/dance kind of a thing...something I liked to listen to, but not really a "live" band thing with guitar bass & drums...So into the "Metal" scene (which was huge at the time here in NYC) I went...I Got too deep into that scene (not me at the end of the day), but I did managed to find common ground with the Metal Heads in a shared love for 70's Hard Rock music, Aerosmith etc... I only wish now I had stayed with my New Wave roots adding the Hard Rock, some Funk, some Rap, who's knows where it could have gone !!! Smile (These songs will rotate often switching between Songs off my "Every Turn" CD - Recorded in 1997 but mostly written in the early 90's - and my wonderful 1989 Demo "Horse Power") Happy to have these few songs recorded, because at this point, it's all fond memories really

Band Members: The 2nd Nature/Horse Power Band 1986/89:Me Michael Butler vocals, my Brother Tommy Butler (Timbers stage name)Drums, Joel Napach Bass & Randy Hinderling Guitar. "Every Turn"1997 Me & Various Musicians
Influences: Hard to say at that point (1986/88)...I guess the Rock of the Seventies was on my mind, I was trying to write the songs I had forgotten about, but onced loved prior to my New Wave thing...that plus I never did like a whole lot of what was happening on the scene (in the bars) at the time, until Guns & Roses showed up...They were a shot in the arm of what "seemed" fresh at the time...But I guess I never strayed too far from my Beatles, Stones thing Smile MB
Sounds Like: 70's rock
Record Label: unsigned/The World missed out a very good band !!!
