My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Vallejo Inter-tribal Council will hold its monthly board meeting on Jan. 8th, 2009 at 7:00PM in the Native American Studies classroom at 303 Wallace St. in Vallejo. Many issues to discuss that are important not only to indigeonous peoples but to all earth peoples. All are welcomed to attend.Register as a member of the council and join in!
We are made up of indigenous people of all walks of life in all countries, we are Natives, Mexicans, Latinos, Europeans, Africans, and Filipino Americans. Vallejo Inter-Tribal Council was founded on November 2, 1995. We embrace the Red Road of our ancestors and we try to follow it. We are humbled by the Creator for his goodness and his blessings. The Vallejo Inter-Tribal Council has been instrumental in re-acquainting or bringing first time knowledge of American Indian history, current events, and cultural awareness to our adult, youth and Elder members. Our cultural activities include learning traditional songs, and dances, drumming, drum and drum-stick making, bead work, leather work, making dance regalia and learning the traditions that govern each of these activities and skills. We share our culture with the general community through educational presentations and public events such as the Annual Pow Wow held every July in Vallejo for the past 12 years. The Vallejo Inter-tribal Council is also concerned with the physical and spiritual health of our community. We have taken a stand against drug and alcohol abuse; we encourage and support healthy relationships and healthy families. We participate in community projects for peace and justice.
One of our important projects is saving the sacred sites of California. We should honor our ancestors and bring the bones back to their resting place.
