About Me
One of Miami’s leading DJ’s, Erok rose to prominence on the South Beach club circuit at a time when Hip Hop began gaining momentum, soon taking over the beach. His unique talent of merging throwback joints from all genres with the hottest new singles on the airwaves left club goers and music enthusiasts’ yearning for more. His smooth mixes and up-tempo blends keep this DJ sensation in high demand.
The story behind the talent is short and sweet. Erok’s DJ career simply began with promo vinyl that was mistakenly handed to him in 1997 at the How Can I Be Down Urban Music Conference. These two records in tote along with an extensive inherited catalog of reggae and disco, Erok began spinning at his school events and friend’s house parties. His big break came while working as a bellman at the South Beach Friday Night hotspot “The Marlin.â€
Initially Erok casually spun during happy hour on the turntables when he had a free moment from his post, the crowd feeling the vibe began buzzing about this young DJ prodigy. It didn’t take club promoter Louis Oliver long before he offered Erok his first residency, which turned into a long lasting working relationship. Each new club endeavor Oliver embarked upon Erok was in rotation; a true testament to his talent. The hottest party on the beach, club B.E.D, had mobs of people waiting until the wee hours of the morning to get in; one of the only parties on the beach that had women leaving the club, feet burning, makeup smeared…dancing to Erok’s mix wasn’t a choice, it was inevitable. Friday nights became the hottest night on the beach and Erok’s smooth mix of Hip Hop, R&B and Disco had party goers in a trance.
In 2006 Erok was the first artist signed to DJ Irie’s talent management company, ArtistRelated. “It was then that I realized this is not a hobby that I love, this is a career that I love†explains Erok. “I would be spinning at a club, then leave to go directly to my 8am class at FIU; it was all in a day’s work.†Irie recognized both Erok’s talent and work ethic while working together at the Grove’s weekly Thursday night college party, Chili Pepper and put Erok on the roster.
All hands on deck, with a solid reputation established, Erok continuously evolves musically. With his diverse interest in music, he is able to rok audiences all over the world; from Germany to Barcelona, South America to Bahamas, and any given city in the U.S., Erok has become well known for blending an eclectic mix of soul, funk, Brazilian beats, reggae, house, rock and hip-hop. “The energy a clever DJ generates has always intrigued me. We can translate our love for music to good vibes in any part of the world!†Erok exclaims.
And it’s this energy and love of music that has kept Erok in the hottest clubs and spinning at the most exclusive parties around the country and beyond. Whether it’s on a private yacht with Eva Longoria celebrating her birthday with 50 of her closest confidants, Jennifer Aniston’s wrap up party that caught national press because of the high-profile attendees, Red Bull Racing’s Formula 1 events held in sexy spots around the world like Pacha São Paulo and Monte Carlo, or the Red Bull After Ride Party at South America’s premier ski resort, Valle Nevado. Furthermore, Erok has become the official DJ to some of the World’s Top Polo Events. Reaching from Snow Polo in the Austrian Alps in Kitzbuehel, all the way to the Beaches of Miami.; there is one constant, Erok is going to captivate the crowd and give them what they want!
Catching up with this phenomenon may be a feat in itself. Soon to be back touring Europe, and guest DJ’ing when he’s in his backyard, all while assisting creatively with his father’s classic island clothing line, Yaga…Erok’s on his grind with a talent and drive that’s comparable to only a handful in the profession. His mantra…“One moment of perfection is better than a whole life of only good, live for the moment.†And moment after moment, Erok continues to entrance audiences city by city, record by record…selekt it, kue it, rok it!
