So this profile is quite obviously not complete or well dressed, but I've finally given in and joined the "myspace" fray... and now it's time to tell everyone and their uncle about me... something I've never been fond of, none the less, here we go. woohoo. After 26 years of life on earth I've learned a great many things about myself. But in the interest of everyone's time and energy, I'll stick to the basics. First and foremost I should admit I am a musicoholic. While all forms of art/expression perk my interest, music is the staple. And if you're not currently under the impression that it's a universal language... think about it again... real hard now... and stop when it hurts. There you go. Nice epiphany you've just had. There's always a song in my head and typically I'm singing it outloud... quietly. After two years studying music education at St Olaf College I realized -given the lack of support for the arts so prevelant in american culture- I couldn't possibly function as a teacher within our education system. Too many hoops to jump through. Too little actual teaching. So I left and began my prestigeous career in the service industry... ha... ha... ha... and for the past 6 years or so I've worked that gauntlet inside and out from banquet serving to casual dining, washing dishes to bartending... At this juncture I find myself working at a dance club in downtown mpls (foundationmpls.com) where the music ranges from interestingly piss-poor live local hip-hop to some of the greats of our time and times past. Mark Farina and The Sugar Hill Gang to name two off the top-o-my head. Anywho's... when it comes to serving drinks and food... you name it, I've probably done it. And that's how I made my millions. My chosen profession is really a matter of convenience more so than anything else. The flexibility and low amount of "hours worked" compared to "money made" affords me time to focus on more interesting endeavors. Member how there's always a song in my head? Most of time it's my own and that's how I prefer to spend my time. Writing, arranging, re-arranging, tearing to shreads then starting over with my own music. I often look at myself in the mirror while writing and become a little frieghtened of the mad scientist looking character staring back, long past the point of no return. Then I giggle a little to myself and take a shower. And once you smell so fresh and so clean, clean, all is well. Someday I may decide to share that work with the world. But for now, that thought is quite scary indeed and makes me want my blanky, or maybe a stuffed animal.
