SWEATSHOP is an agency with a long tradition, responsible for bringing MUDHONEY, FLAMING LIPS and YO LA TENGO to Europe in the late 80ies and early 90ies and NIRVANA to Berlin on the 9th of November in 1989, which was probably the smallest crowd ever at a NIRVANA show in Europe before and ever after (thanks -Berlin Wall for coming down that very day!) ... that was a nail in the coffin and the agency went to a medical coma for about a decade.
SWEATSHOP was resurrected as a reaction on the state of things in booking, we were bored with a lot of (not all) agents, ... fuck up a tour, that we decided, we can do on our own.
SWEATSHOP is a booking agency in it's second incarnation that tries to pretend that it's not a booking agency. It's a one man organization from Berlin, a guy who freaks out on a daily base when confronted with the harsh reality of the booking biz! But as much as he's a cynic in the details he's a visionary and optimist if it comes to the bigger picture (... people say)
We're proud to have a European network of friends and partners whom we trust and who share our vision! Which is: VORWÄRTS VORWÄRTS NIEMALS RÜCKWÄRTS!
We are also happy to have a selected roster of bands that are as close to us as adopted kids to their step parents (no real kids, that would be silly)
SWEATSHOP also puts on shows in Berlin in connection with various promoters, ... we're sort of Big Shots here!
